And after winter folweth grene May - Geoffrey Chaucer
I've decided to go seriously old school with my quote this month because literature was my first love and always will be. We studied The Canterbury Tales at school and I was inspired. I loved the rhythms of the language and how it was like the English I spoke, but not quite. It showed me that language isn't fixed and everything evolves including spelling and grammar. Language is never finished because humans are never done finding new ideas and trying new things. The rules we have around language now will be irrelevant in 500 years.
That's very nice, you're probably thinking, but what has that got to do with markeing? The answer? Everything. Because marketing is just appealing to people and their ideas. Their ideas about themselves, their ideas about what they want in life and the way they express those ideas.

Five signs you might need help with your marketing strategy
I enjoy working on marketing strategy because it’s an opportunity to take stock of where your business is and put in place a plan to take you forward.
I also enjoy a "you might need help if...", so here are a few around marketing strategy.
How has COVID changed business and marketing for good?
Now, I think is a really interesting time. We’re not out of the woods yet in terms of the pandemic and we’re not back to “normal”, whatever that was. But we are in an interesting transition time and this year it will be fascinating to see which trends are here to stay. Here are some of my thoughts.
Usually, my blogs are about some finer point of marketing but I thought I’d write a quick about me to help you understand what you get when you work with me.
I like this podcast because it takes an objective look at the latest trends and has helpful interviews with relevant experts. It covers a variety of topics and I find it helpful to brush up on those areas I don't work in on a daily basis. Generally, I come away from listening to an episode with at least one note of something new to check out.
My knees are dirty in this photo because I was kneeling in the dirt, planting some new perennials. One of my major hobbies this month has been landscaping my garden and putting in more living things. Keeping plants alive in my sun-soaked, wind-blown, frost-prone backyard is challenging to say the least. It's a very different environment to the UK!
If you'd like to receive regular updates on my plants, feel free to follow me on Instagram. This is my personal account and mainly contains pictures of flowers, mountains, and snow, depending on the season.
