Another New class! Yasmita Magan set up Yazzii Bags in 2001. Her bags are beautiful and great for both storage and travelling. She started with jewellery organisers but quickly moved on to provide bespoke bags for knitting, crocheting, embroidery and lots of other crafts. Many of you will have seen her stall at Festival of Quilts. Responding to quilters' needs to store and carry quilt blocks, her latest bags are the perfect size at approximately 14.5" square and a generous 2.5" deep. Equally useful for storing fabrics with its see through panel these bags have been flying off the shelf and can be hard to find in the UK. |

This two day class gives you the opportunity to not only own one of these useful bags, but also to personalise it based around a ‘Singer’ sewing machine design (or your own design if you prefer). The course fee includes a bag and fabric kit, but feel free to bring along a few special scraps form your stash to make it a truly unique bag. I only have a limited number of bags so class places are restricted to a maximum of 12 spaces and although the bags are available in the following colours Red, Navy, Green, Black, Purple and Turquoise I can’t guarantee you’ll get your first choice. Colours will therefore be allocated in strict order of booking confirmation being received so act now to get your favourite!! Please state up to three colour choices in order of preference. |

The images shown for American Beauty and Four Patch Chain are smaller samples showing just 4 of the 12 blocks that will be made for the larger quilts that will be made on the courses. |

Aristotle and Patchwork – when great minds meet! Aristotle once said that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts” and that is so often true of our patchwork projects. Each small piece has its own part to play but just looking at a pile of blocks or hexagons gives little sense of the finished article. It’s only when they are added together that we get a true sense of the whole quilt. Many times, I have heard students saying, ‘I can’t visualise what this is going to look like when it’s all been put together’. Over the Years I have often finished off many UFOs or found loving hands that will do so. I've lost count of the thousands of prepared hexagons that have come my way and I often wonder who stitched then and the story behind them. Why was the project started and why was it abandoned? There is always a great honour and responsibility to be found in finishing someone else's work - especially when they are no longer able to do so themselves. Margaret (Dux) came across a lovely story recently which I wanted to share with you. It showcases many things – the desire to complete a project long neglected, the generosity of those willing to share their time and expertise, the sense of community engendered and the preservation of textile history. But most importantly it epitomises the strength of our stitching links across the years and celebrates our diverse skills from beginner to artisan, alongside varying world cultures. Long may it continue and next time you see a ‘call to stitching arms’ join in if you can – you’ll be surprised where it leads you! Grosvenor Shows Letter of Thanks In December I received a lovely letter of thanks .. Dear Joy Re: Feature Quilt Display 2019 I have just been finishing off the paperwork for our 2019 feature quilt displays and realised, with embarrassment, that I did not write properly to thank you earlier in the year for allowing us to display your group's 1718 quilts during our shows this year. We have received a huge amount of positive feedback regarding the quality and variety of quilts on display this year. Thanks you once again for loaning us your quilts for display and I trust that it has been an enjoyable experience for you too. May we wish you a very Happy and relaxing Christmas. Yours sincerely Vicky Manson Grosvenor Shows Ltd |
