A New Hampshire woman working just across the border in a Massachusetts daycare was arrested this morning on child exploitation and child pornography charges.

Lindsay Groves, 38, of Hudson, N.H., was charged by criminal complaint filed in federal court in Boston ahead of her arrest. An affidavit said she took nude photos of children she worked with at the Creative Minds daycare in Tyngsboro, with at least several of the photos being made within the last couple of weeks.

“I want to do this with you with one of my kids,” Groves allegedly texted a female former romantic partner the afternoon of June 14 longside a picture of a prepubescent boy with a focus on his genitals. “I took that picture a couple minutes ago.”

In all, the feds say Groves traded 2,500 text messages with this former romantic partner and that these messages discussed child exploitation at length and included at least four sexually explicit images that depicted children in her care. She allegedly used bathroom breaks and “naptime” routines as opportunities to record the children, which appear in the images to be between 3 and 5 years old, in a pornographic way.

The recipient of the texts, identified only as “Person 1” in the complaint affidavit, allegedly responded: “I also need to be honest I mean yes that picture was hot of that little boy but you probably have gotten the picture by now that I prefer little girls (sic), but he is cute,” and added that she wanted Groves to touch the little boy inappropriately.

Groves allegedly did what she was asked, though when “Person 1” pressed for the photo via text the next morning, Groves responded “I forgot” before sending a picture of the minor and a hand — presumably hers — reaching toward the child’s genitalia.

This former romantic partner then allegedly shared the images with others and despite her responses to Grove’s texts texted one of these additional people, “Person 3,” that “I don’t like that I have these but I wanted to show you the proof. I am not a kid pervert.”

“Person 3” allegedly deleted the photos but contacted the police and was able to recover the images and provide a voluntary interview with the Nashua Police Department, which began this investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, the feds say. Members of the public who have questions, concerns or information regarding this case should call 617-748-3274.

This is a developing story.
