It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Well... maybe not. But the days are getting longer and we are starting to think about spring and another growing season. Part of our routine in preparing for spring is figuring out what the coming year will look like: What animals are we raising this year? How will we use our land? What improvements would we like to make and see?

Part of this planning and preparation is trying to forecast how much product we might sell this year and determining the number of animals we will need to raise to meet the needs of our customers. That is where you come in.

 

 

It's Time to Pre-Order your Beef, Pork, Chicken(s) and Turkey for 2023!

 

Because of the change in our butcher shop situation and us making use of our On Farm Slaughter Licence we can only sell product by pre order this year. This means you need to let us know how much of what you would like for the coming year.

Here are the details:

 

**New Meat Subscription Option: For those with limited freezer space, or who would like to spread payment out over 6-12 months we are offering a meat subscription for beef, pork and chicken. You will still need to purchase the whole, half or quarter animal from us but we will store it for you. Then once a month you will make a payment and get a box with a variety of your meat. If you wish to utilize this option please select the subscription option in the order forms below.**

 

Grass Fed/Finished Beef: can be ordered by the whole, half or quarter. The price this year will be $4.75/lb.-5.25/lb. hanging weight and they will be butchered late September to early October. We will have one beef ready to butcher late June if you would like beef sooner.

Ground Beef: We have one cow which will be turned into all ground beef in late June. She will also be sold by the whole, half or quarter but the price will be based on the final weight of the ground meat, which is $7.50/lb. Each quarter will be approx. ~80-100lb. of ground beef.

Forest Raised Pork: can currently only be ordered by the whole. The price this year will be $3.75/lb. hanging weight and we have two dates available. Mid June and late August.

Deposit: $100/pig

**(Please note that our new butcher is currently skinning pigs, instead of scalding like our previous butcher did. This means that the final hanging weight will be less than in the past but the actual amount of pork you receive should be very close to the same. That is why we raised the price/lb of the hanging weight, to reflect that change. The overall price per pig has only increased a little bit from past years.)**

Beef & Pork Order Form

Sausage Sows: Can be ordered by the whole, half or quarter. We currently have 2 sows to be turned into sausage or ground pork. The price is $8.50/lb. packaged weight of sausage, $5/lb. for ground. They will be going to the butcher as soon as the orders are filled.

Deposit: $50/quarter.

Sausage/Ground Pork Order Form

Pastured Chicken (Broilers): Can only be ordered by the whole bird but with the option to have it split or cut into parts and packaged to your liking. The price this year will be $5.75/lb. dressed and will be available in July and August.

Pastured Turkeys: Are also ordered by the whole. The price this year will be $6.00/lb. dressed and will be available late September. Some feedback we received from customers last year was that the Turkeys where too big with not enough meat on them. To address this we will be raising a different breed of Turkeys this year with a better meat to bone ratio. That basically means they should fill out a lot better without becoming too large.

Ready to lay Hens: Should any of you want to keep your own flock of laying hens we are offering to raise the chicks for you. They would start to lay eggs around early September and you could pick them up anytime between late May and early September. The price this year is $7/bird plus $1/week of age.
