Textbooks for Students In Tesqopa and Alqosh we completed distributing 1,667 books to 446 high school students! The three high schools of the two towns started the school year with only a few books provided by the government. We were able to step in and provide copies of the books needed for the school year. The students will now have a better learning experience and this will ease the economic burden on their families.

Gift Shop in Batnaya David's business in Batnaya is open! David is part of the 10% of returnees who have returned to Batnaya and he was eager to rebuild his life. With little to no income, he had an idea for a religious gift shop, but didn’t have the financial means. Volunteer SpotlightAnthony Zora |
Shlama's projects would not be possible without our volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes. This month we want to highlight the volunteer efforts of Anthony Zora. When Anthony's not running his hardware business in Ypsilanti, managing one of his rental properties, or spending time with his wife and 3 sons, he is driving from business to business collecting Shlama's donation jars. Zora lived in Tel-Keppe until he was 6 years old when his family decided to come to America. In addition to volunteering with Shlama, he volunteers on the board of the church parish at St. Thomas Chaldean Catholic Church and St. Mary's Polish fair board. |

Archaeological site in Iraq that dates back 2,700 years becomes heritage park An archaeological park unveiled in northern Iraq dates back more than 2,700 years to the rule of the Assyrians. The area in Faida, located in the south of Dohuk governorate, comprises 13 monumental rock-carving reliefs in the walls of an irrigation canal that stretches for about 10 kilometers. The carvings show kings praying to gods. Regional authorities hope to create the first of five parks at Faida, part of a project aimed at creating "a tourist attraction and a source of income", Mr Brefkany said.
