Blessed Imbolc Imbolc is the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. It falls on February 1st. Imbolc represents new beginnings, purity, rebirth, renewal and first signs of spring. The beginning of something good. The origin of the name is debated but is said to be from an Old Irish Imbolg meaning in the belly, which may reference pregnant yews/sheep, thus representing a new life, which is a welcome sign of spring. Imbolc is a wonderful time to start thinking of what you are going to leave behind (i.e. a thought pattern, habit, a way of thinking that drags you down). As well as a time to do a spring cleaning of the hearth and home. So let's begin there this February and clear out our Muck and Muddle! I have a recipe for an Imbolc ritual for you to do in your own time here... |

Muck & Muddle Everything on this planet has a vibration, energy. And this energy is either serving you or diminish you. Muck & Muddle (a.k.a. clutter) has only one type of energy and that is heavy and depleting. Muck & Muddle blocks you from accomplishing your goals and reaching your dreams. It is an energy that leaves you feeling sluggish, depressed, uninspired and stuck! Energy cannot flow in Muck & Muddle. Muck & Muddle can look like this: - Pictures of past relationships
- Gifts from energy-sucking vampires
- Buildup of paper
- Too many knickknacks
- Laundry
- Dusty shelves
- Unmade beds
- Dirty dishes
- Shoes blocking the front door from opening
- Unfinished projects
- Bills not paid
These are just to name a few of these energy suckers. The basic witches rule, is that Muck & Muddle is anything that you don’t love, you don’t honour, you don’t get excited about, or don’t use and need. Every witch's Muck & Muddle would be an individual thing, no two would be the same. It is important to listen to your wisdom and ask, Do I “LOVE” this, do I “NEED” this and if the answer is NO…….. banish it. When you look around your space, you want the energy to uplift you. Make you smile on the inside, leaving you feeling secure, nourished, inspired and juiced up. Need I say anymore? Let’s stop the chit chat, roll up our sleeves and get to work. There is no room for Muck & Muddle in a Witches hearth and home. Let’s create magick in our home! Don’t think of it as cleaning and clearing, think of it as freeing your home. GET YOUR BROOMS READY - Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and at ease.
- Get your cleaning supplies (recipe below), vacuum, mop and duster ready.
- Choose one small area of your home at a time. It is important that you are able to finish what you started.
- I love filling the nooks and crannies with music, put on music that charges you up.
- Have 3 bags or bins for: Give Away, Keep, Recycle/Trash
- Stand in the centre of your home and declare to the clutter trolls that;
“This is my home and I'm taking it back!” - Dive in! No better time than now!
- Dust and mop as you go.
- Guideline: If you don’t love it, if you don’t use it, if you don’t need it, if you’ve forgotten you’ve even had it and didn’t miss it or – Banish it! Throw it out, burn it or give it away.
BREW YOUR OWN CLEANING SUPPLIES Let’s banish unhealthy toxins from our home and one of the biggest offenders is our cleaning supplies! Yuck! It muddles up our Air. Here a simple recipe for an all-purpose cleaner. - 8 oz spray bottle (dollar store is your friend)
- ½ cup vinegar
- ½ cup water
- 12 – 20 drops of essential oils of your choosing or one of the essential oil recipes below:
Sparkling Clean 4 drops of Lemon 4 drops of Lime 3 drops of Lavender 3 drops of Rosemary Citrus Bliss 8 drops of Orange 6 drops of Lemon *This cleaner is safe on any surface, however always test cleaners in a small area first before applying to a greater surface area. ENHANCE YOUR BREW Swirl your bottle clockwise and recite: “Clean, clean, crystal clean, I am brewing harmony!” say 3x’s So mote it be. Keeping the muck and muddle at bay is truly a lifelong journey and I find the best to tackle this is by creating a healthy routine. Do a little bit every day, then you won’t feel so bogged down. This will keep the energy clear and flowing continuously. Your home, your life will only flourish and reap the rewards of freedom and bountiful blessings. |

Imbolc Bread Braided bread is found in many forms, in many cultures. This recipe is a simple one and is perfect for serving at your Imbolc feast. The braid symbolizes Brigid in her aspect as the bride, representative of her fertility and position as a hearth goddess. Also, the night before Imbolc, offerings would be made to Brigid, to ask for her blessings for the coming spring. So offer a small morsel of this lovely bread to our blessed Brigid. |

Overnight Bread Dough Ingredients - 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast (21/4 tsp.)
- 1 cup. milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 butter, cut up
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
Directions Stir together 2 cups of the flour and the yeast in a large bowl. Combine milk, sugar, butter, and salt in a medium saucepan; heat and stir over medium heat until butter is melted. Add milk mixture and eggs to the flour mixture. Beat until well mixed (scrape sides). Stir in the remaining flour to make a soft dough that just starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl (dough will be slightly sticky).... may have to knead a little. Place dough in a greased container, turning to grease the surface of dough. Cover and refrigerate for 6 to 24 hours. *I cover my dough with a slightly damp dishtowel.. keeps the dough moist. Six hours later or next day: - 1 Egg
- Water
- Sesame Seeds
- Sprinkling of Cornmeal
Directions Take your dough out and before it begins to rise, cut your dough into thirds with a large pizza cutter or a knife. Roll each piece out until it's about 18" long, and about an inch thick. You'll end up with three of these long strips. Take the strips, and braid them together, trying not to stretch them out too much. When you've reached the end of the braid, tuck the ends underneath themselves. Place the braid either on a baking stone or on a pan that has been sprinkled with cornmeal. Beat the egg in a small bowl, and add 2 Tbsp. water. Lightly brush the egg and water mixture over the braid, and then sprinkle with sesame seeds. Let it rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until doubled in size. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes, or until a light golden brown colour. Remove from baking sheet, and allow to cool for 15 minutes or more before serving. Serve with Butter. Enjoy! |

Essential Oils February is a month of love, so I'll be infusing my home with Love! I don't get to use Marjoram very often, so thought I'd give this diffuser blend a try... so glad I did, as it smells divine! When diffusing, open yourself to love by saying this affirmation: "I intend to open my heart and soul to love and allow love to move through me with ease and grace." |
