Welcome to my mostly sporadic, somewhat informative newsletter ;) |

Happy April, guys! :D
This month is another busy, busy one for me. It's CampNaNo month, which is great for us writers in terms of motivation, and boy do I need it. I'm trying to finish rewrites for Tellus this month, which means I need to write around 100k—and yes, I mean rewrite each word. It's a great way to spot problems—but more on that later. ;) |
|
|
Which also means Tellus is still on track to be released on time, knock on wood. ;) I've been saying late September, early October, and I'm definitely leaning to the latter. Largely because my cover won't be done until the end of August, and then I'll need to order proofs. But, I plan to have all swag and the interior done by then, so it will just be a matter of waiting for slow shipping. xD
Also, keep an eye out for that swag; I'll be revealing stuff over the next couple months across my social media, but I recently got the rough sketch for the biggest of them and it's already breathtaking. Gabriella Bujdosó is a queen. (There's your hint ;) ) |

|
Also! Exciting things! I'm working with Fae Crate next month! :D
If you're not familiar, they do monthly subscription boxes filled with (often exclusive) bookish goodies, as well as a physical book—and this month the eBook in every box is Imber! :D
If you've been eyeballing Imber, or debating a book sub box, I can't recommend them enough and this is the perfect time to give them a shot. The theme for the month is Fate's Design, and features items from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy, Harry Potter, a special Wrath and the Dawn polaroid art piece and more! :D Click the pic! :D |

|
Anywho, short newsletter this month, I hope you're all well!
Back to writing I go! ;) |
|
|
Books I'm excited for! :D |
|
|
My reading has been at a bit of a stand-still lately between my own writing and beta reads. BUT. These two are high on my TBR stack. Check them out! :D |

THREE YOUNG WOMEN. THREE DARK DESTINIES. ONE CHANCE TO CHANGE EVERYTHING.
Three spellbinding novellas in the Gods' Fate world available in print for the first time.
BRIDE OF DREAMS In order to escape her mother's war-torn legacy, Diya must marry. In her homeland, marriage can mend decades of hostility; long-awaited truces suddenly become possible. But when her short trip to the altar ends in a curse upon her betrothed, Diya must rescue his soul from the gods--or risk the destruction of their villages.
HUNTRESS AND THE NIGHTINGALE Once a huntress blessed by the gods, now Zahria is little more than an exalted murderer. As her royal lover continues to torment the desperate and dying people of the kingdom, her only solace exists within wineskins that never seem to run out--until she's presented with a promising bargain:
Destroy a cursed forest and sin against gods who have likely abandoned her... or remain forever imprisoned in a land not her own.
STORM MISTRESS Jade has no trouble remembering what her brave and foolish foray into the pirate quarter once cost her: blood and destruction. Now clever backdoor deals and swift thrusts of her hips bring her that much closer to stopping the monsters of her island home from abusing their power. But when a mysterious storm goddess kills one of her patrons--an essential member of a deadly captain's crew--Jade's plans threaten to crumble.
To stay alive, she must defeat all her enemies, for her death will not win her the island's game of shadows.

The First Gwenevere . . . a Celtic Arthurian Legend Reverse Harem Fantasy tale of betrayal and fated love.
A fated white faerie. A dark war for power. An otherworldly relic that can raise the dead.
Anger and disappointment burn within Fionna Allán following the Grail Quest. Her family still remain captives of a rival clann, and King Arthur Pendragon’s kingdom continues to wither and die. Now Fionna’s sworn enemy brings war to Arthur’s shores with Morgan la Fay at his side—a battle Arthur and Caerleon can ill afford. Especially as one of Arthur’s knights has gone rogue, leaving their group weak and devastated. With his kingship in question and his people suffering to the point of rebellion, Arthur and his knights are forced to seek help from the gods. But none are prepared for the secrets the faeries reveal. A Gwenevere. An enchantress, born of legends past, will rise to protect a Great King. But only if that king proves his worthiness. Caerleon’s brittle future depends on Fionna, Arthur, Lancelot, Galahad, and Percival sacrificing their own. If they are to defeat their enemies—mortal and immortal alike—they must bare their souls and join their hearts. Before war destroys everyone and everything they love.

This month, I'm going to link you to my ever-growing Tellus playlist.
And seriously, it won't stop growing. In revisions I've added so much new music, maybe because I listened to the old so much while drafting. But there's some seriously epic music on Spotify and I can't resist!
|
|
I have been utterly obsessed with "Really Slow Motion" lately. They do these big, epic cinematic pieces. I literally haven't found a song of theirs I don't enjoy, and Th3 Awak3n1ng is no exception. Click the pic, it'll open it right up on YouTube. |

This group, Zyrah Rose, is new-to-me and I definitely feel like I've been missing out! (They were on Britain's Got Talent) They only have four songs on Spotify at the moment but I'm loving all of them. "I see Fire" is definitely my favorite, but they even have one dedicated to Game of Thrones, and it's beautiful. Click the pic! |

I made a new blog post! Yay! Maybe. :P
It's a long one, guys, as a fair warning. But I think one of the things I see writers struggling with the most is polishing their manuscript. Not only indies, for whom polish can make all the difference in the world, but also for those persuing the traditional publishing route. Over use of certain terms, phrases, etc. can have an agent passing by an otherwise amazing manuscript. So! With the experience of two editors as aid, as well as my own research on the interwebs, I bring you this hefty checklist of things I look for in my own manuscript; so that maybe it will help you polish yours. <3

Chelscey is a super talented author in her own right, so I'm always overjoyed when she's kind enough to show Imber love. And how beautiful is this?! The lights, the quote from inside . . . I die <3
If you haven't already, go check out her Monster of Selkirk books. They're SO good!!!
