"We are determined to build a renewed partnership between Northern Nevada and France through the Alliance Française, collaborations in mountain sports and expanded student exchange programs. Let’s be bold!"...Florian Cardinaux, Consul General |
We extend our thanks to the dynamic newly appointed French Consul General, Florian Cardinaux, for choosing Reno and Lake Tahoe as his first stop outside the San Francisco Bay Area during his official visit tours . This was important to strengthen ties with the Alliance Française de Reno and our vibrant Francophone and Francophile community. And a special 'Merci!' goes to Reno's Mayor, Hillary Schieve, and her team for their warm welcome and the productive conversations where we found shared goals and visions.

FUN QUESTION: SO! why is Reno "The Biggest Little City in the World?" |
Calling Reno a “city” in 1910 was a bit of a stretch—since the population only hovered around 10,000—but the town had an urban quality that did take many by surprise. Visitors often arrived expecting to find a backward frontier outpost and instead found a university, a charming downtown, and an air of cultural sophistication, that has more than lastly since then!
