Take a look inside: Perspective BY DESTINY CLARK WILLIAMS, LCSW-S Our perspective on a situation profoundly shapes our experience of it. Have you ever noticed someone who remains calm and composed regardless of what happens? They acknowledge and discuss the problem but don’t seem overly worried, sad, or angry. On the other hand, there are those who seem distressed by every issue, big or small. This difference often comes down to perspective. When we immediately assume the worst, it leads to fear, negative thinking, a lower mood, and emotional decision-making. Here’s a piece of advice that has stuck with me: The next time you face a challenge, take a deep breath and remember, “How I show up to a situation is how the situation will show up to me.” With this mindset, you can move forward with clarity and composure. | | |

Calming Corner By Destiny Clark Williams, LCSW-S Ever find yourself stressed about relaxing? Many people today see relaxation as just another item on their to-do list. A more effective approach is to view relaxation as a way to become more attuned to your mind and body. One simple and free technique is Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), which requires only a few minutes. Here's how it works: sit still for about 5 minutes and focus on one muscle group at a time, starting with your feet. Notice how each muscle group feels, including any tension. Then, tense and relax each group, ending with your eyes. Take a deep breath and notice how much more relaxed you feel. Here are a few websites to help you on your journey to relaxation.
