`Aha `Ohana We would like to extend a heartfelt mahalo to everyone who joined us for our `Aha `Ohana event on Saturday, July 27, in Springfield, VA. It was wonderful to see both new and familiar faces, coming together to celebrate and honor our rich Hawaiian culture. Your presence and support made the day truly special. Attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of cultural workshops, from Lei making, Hula, and La`u Lapa`au to traditional Hawaiian games like Kōnane and the beautiful art of `Ohe Kapala (bamboo stamping). A special mahalo to Dr. Gerry Ebalaroza-Tunnell for donating her “Let’s Live Aloha” books for our storytelling session. Of course, the day wouldn’t have been complete without the ono (delicious) food provided by the Aloha Crew. They truly brought the flavors of Hawai`i to life and kept everyone well-nourished throughout the day. We also want to extend a huge mahalo to our generous sponsor, Papa Ola Lōkahi, whose support helped make this event possible. Their commitment to fostering cultural connections and supporting our community is deeply appreciated. Mahalo, Papa Ola Lōkahi, for standing with us and uplifting our mission. We are grateful for the community’s enthusiasm, participation, and continued support of our mission to perpetuate Hawaiian culture here in the DMV area. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year for another unforgettable `Aha `Ohana celebration! |
