All of A Piece Happy June! So, let’s say, you’re a costume person on a musical like “Seussical!” where all of the characters come from a mash-up of Dr, Suess books, including such favorites as The Cat in The Hat, Horton Hears a Who, and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, just to name a few…. (see how I Suessed that up?) ….and let us imagine that we’ve had the biggest audition turnout since we re-opened in Centerville three years ago, (congrats to our director Matt Godissart!) and now have a cast of (gulp) over thirty adults and kids. Once you’ve picked yourself off the floor, you wonder what we'll do. Luckily, some BCP board members met our awesome costume assistant at a recent event, and Lori Sollenberger joined our crew. Without giving away too many secrets before opening night, we’re going to concentrate on two inhabitants of Who, who happen to be husband and wife… in the play, but not in real life. |

We’ve put our Mr. in an intentionally mismatched suit of Madras plaid jacket with sequin trim, yellow vest and striped tie, and trousers featuring a different plaid, while Mrs. appears pretty put together in her black, red, and gold suit. The first objective here is to Suess up the female character's costume…which hopefully we’ve achieved by adding some gold sequin trim to her suit jacket, and then make the characters relatable as a family by adding the yellow sunflower boutonnieres. The changes are pinned on and now await the directorial yay or nay before they’re final. |

….and no, I’m not going to tell you what happened, for that you need to see the show! Seussical runs Jul 19, 20, 26 & 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Jul 21 & 28 at 3:00 p.m. See you in July! ~Sue |
