Data Validation with DAVALIEN

The DAta VALIdation ENvironment project provides an environment for validating EO data. You can define tests by specifying the SNAP GPT command line call and the expected product content. In the end you will get two report files, one JSON and one HTML file.

It will be published soon after the SNAP 10 release.

Big Website Updated

I've updated recently the EOMasters website to reflect better what I'm doing and what has changed since I started EOmasters. It now provides a lot of new and updated content. For example, it now has dedicated section for Software, Knowledge and Community.

In the Software section the upcoming EOMasters Toolbox and the DAVALIEN are introduced and it is mentioned that you can contact if you need custom software.
I invite you to take a look and browse through it. If you find a mistake, please let me know.

Sentinel-5P Reprocessing Campaign

The data from the Sentinel-5P satellite, which monitors air quality and atmospheric composition was successfully reprocessed.

The reprocessed data are more consistent, accurate and detailed, and serve the needs of various applications, such as the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS).

The project had to overcome several hurdles. The reprocessing required a lot of cloud resources, time and quality checks, as well as collaboration among multiple teams and institutions.

ESA and JAXA Care for Earth

EarthCARE, short for Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer, is a satellite jointly developed by ESA and JAXA. The satellite will monitor the impact of clouds and aerosols on the Earth's climate system. The satellite will carry four instruments that will measure the vertical structure, cloud top information, multispectral overview and radiation budget of clouds and aerosols.

The satellite has undergone extensive testing in Europe and is now ready to be shipped to the launch site in California. It is expected to launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in May 2024

Mid November a science and validation workshop takes place at ESA - ESRIN in Frascati, Italy.
