Happy New Year, Belonging Books' community!

I had every intention to hide away in January while I focused on planning Belonging Books' first full year. Good try, Erica! But the month is not over. I will regroup, revisit my goals and strategies, and most importantly, make sure that I hold close to my mission of centering the voices and stories of people of color and holding space for this community to gather in joy, celebration, safety and belonging.

Looking forward to going on this journey with you in 2023.

The Arts & Justice Collective Corner

Belonging Books is deeply committed to furthering the projects and goals of The Arts & Justice Collective. I want to share some upcoming Collective initiatives and also bring attention to programs of my fellow collaborators.

Saturday, January 21

Please join us for The Arts & Justice Collective's third House Party: Lunar New Year Celebrations! This is a family-oriented event with interactive fun for every age. You will not want to miss the traditional lion dance performance by Hung Gar Kung Fu and Lion Dance Academy at 11 a.m. as well as demonstrations from our very own Hyannis-based Kung Fu Academy.

Support The Arts & Justice Collective's GoFundMe

We have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to create something extremely special and unique on the Cape – an opportunity to bring people together, to support and center our historically excluded communities, and to make Cape Cod a better, more equitable place to call home.

And when we say “we,” we mean all of us – this collective community. Your voice and your needs are vital in creating our programming, events, and in helping to establish Hyannis’ first art, culture, and social justice hub!

Your donations will:

  • support our Collective programs (that are free to the public),

  • go directly into the hands of our local artists and vendors participating in our Collective programs, and

  • help support the steps to establish physical community space.

Thank you all for your continued support! Please donate here.
