Viaggio nella Cultura Italiana is Back & Online!!

Welcome to the first Viaggio nella Cultura Italiana's newsletter & Happy Italian Heritage Month! 🇮🇹

The wait is over!

Viaggio nella Cultura italiana was an experimental project created by us, Ludo & Sonia, for whoever loves Italian culture & wants to discover and learn more. It was in partnership with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada - West & the Dante Alighieri Society of BC. And, it has been a pleasure to work alongside such established & renowned realities but it was the right time for us to fly solo! So we decided to upgrade & found this new cultural hub which will bring many surprises 🤩

To celebrate this special month, the Italian Heritage Month, we'll restart with a brand new series: The Italian Painters. And we'll begin precisely with Giotto!

After all, the Medieval painter encompasses everything that Viaggio nella Cultura Italiana (VCI) stands for, aka the idea/birth of Italian culture.

Check below our June news & events calendar. Don't forget to register for The Italian Painters series!

THE ITALIAN PAINTERS' PROGRAM

1. June 16th - GIOTTO

Giotto, the most important Italian painter of the 14th century, has been revered as the father of European painting & the first of the great Italian masters. He was ahead of his time & a big innovator. Discover him & his masterpieces with us!

2. June 23rd - CARAVAGGIO

Between myths & reality, Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, is a very famous & controversial Italian painter.

His use of chiaroscuro, extreme contrasts of light & dark to emphasize details & expression, and his intense & unsettling realism are just two aspects of his late 16th & 17th centuries' amazing artworks.

Join us to learn more about one of the fathers of modern painting!

3. July 7th - DE CHIRICO

Before World War I, De Chirico founded the scuola metafisica, art movement, which even influenced surrealism.

His pioneer vision led to gorgeous, symbolic & eerie paintings. And, this style is still directly influencing artists worldwide after more than a century.

Learn more about De Chirico's story & suggestive artwork!

4. July 14th - BALLA

Giacomo Balla is an Italian painter, poet & one of the founders of the Futurism movement, il Futurismo. Light, color, movement & speed were the core of his art, not violence & machines like other futurists. Balla's inspiration was modern life & society and, thanks to many travels, his unique taste is appreciated everywhere.

Don't miss the chance to explore Balla's masterworks!
