Wild Blue Travel

Summer 2020 Newsletter

First Quarterly Newsletter

I hope this summer finds you well. . .both physically and emotionally after these past few months!

So, if this is a summer newsletter, why am I dressed for winter in the photo?  Well, this was my most recent trip  - I returned just before the travel landscape changed so drastically. My sister and I traveled to Vienna, Austria in February as she was born in Austria when my parents were stationed there.  We spent one night enroute and on the return in Lisbon, Portugal, five nights in Vienna, Austria, two nights in Budapest, Hungary and one day in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Why am I sharing this with you?  Because I want to create wanderlust in you!  The Caribbean is in the stages of reopening their borders, Europe may not be too far behind - maybe?  (fingers crossed). And then of course, there are so many interesting, beautiful, natural, unique destinations right here in the USA.  Note: Europe remains closed to Americans for the time being - let's try to change this and get this virus under control!

Enjoy cruising. . .with river cruises close to home!  2022 will see Viking Cruises sailing US rivers, (and booking now) and until then there are several companies with small ships that sail US rivers and coastal waters.

Why not consider destinations in the USA and the Caribbean!

The Emerald Isle - Ireland

Have you always dreamed of a trip to Ireland?  I'm planning a small group (8 to 10 persons) to Ireland next May. Our mode of transportation will be trains, private drivers and maybe a ferry or two. We'll stay in a few locations (versus many) which will allow me to craft the trip to suit  individual preferences.

There will be different choices in each city where you can, for example, sign up to take a walking tour that includes visiting museums.  Not your cup of tea?  Choose to join a small group cooking class instead. Or maybe a day trip to a close location but not have to change hotels. Then we'll meet in the evenings and compare notes on what everyone did!. Of course there will be activities in which we will all be together, in addition to travel between the cities. I will have pricing soon. Interested?  Email me so I can send you the detailed itinerary.

2021 - River Cruising on the Danube!

I'm hoping it won't be too long before my suitcase can come out and play again!  In August 2021 I'm sailing AmaWaterways on their Lower Danube Itinerary.  I chose this itinerary,  "Gems of Southeast Europe" because it hits many countries maybe I wouldn't venture through on my own. The trip goes fom Giurgiu, Romania to Budapest, Hungary and it is a wine-themed cruise where tastings, winery visits and more are included.

TidBits

With not many clients traveling right now, I have had a bit more time to play around with my website.  I've added  "Where in the world",  a page with memories sent in by clients; either of them traveling, or destinations where they have traveled, or both. I have just started to ask clients, if I haven't asked you yet - please consider this an invitation to be included. Just send me some pictures and be sure to let me know if you'd like your names included.

On a sad note - the new normal requires travelers to be more informed, so here you are: CDC  and the World Health Organization, websites you may find useful with travel and life in general.

Please check out my website, www.wildbluetravel.net. which is always a work in progress. If you have pictures, recipes you've collected in your travels and destinations you'd like me to add to my website please send an email to mary@wildbluetravel.net.

Current Travel?

The fluid situation regarding the Coronavirus has, and will continue, to impact travel. Right now, I'm training to serve you better and I'm  keeping up with travel supplier updates on their new protocols and status of destinations.  I'm also just an email, phone call, or text away for questions about your specific travel plans.

And if you are dreaming about future travel plans. . .don't just dream!  Travel suppliers are currently offering many incentives as well as risk-free booking offers.....And people are booking!
