Father's Day 2023 Extravaganza

My Latest Book, Morse Code Mysteries and Missives

Was your relationship with your father puzzling? Were his communications cryptic, confusing, and hard to decipher? Now you can return the favor--or just give a clever Father's Day gift to someone who knows Morse Code from their days in the military, the merchant marine, piloting an aircraft, earning a Boy Scout merit badge, or trying to ferret out the meaning of various codes and ciphers for fun. Morse Code Mysteries and Missives includes two short stories by me, plus a piece of relevant historical non-fiction, three ways. First, in printed Morse Code, then in audible Morse Code (thru links), and finally in clear English. This lets someone who wants to practice their Morse Code do so with real, substantive text instead of the dry fodder of how-to manuals or the silly simple phrases of kid's books.

 Origins Game Fair

June 21-25, 2023

Columbus, Ohio

As most of you know, I'll be attending Origins Game Fair again thie year as part of the Authors' Alcove, which this year is going to be located on the far left (1800 Aisle) of the Exhibit Hall.

Every year, the Authors' Alcove (aka Origins Library) authors each contribute a story to the Origins Game Fair anthology souvenir/keepsake and the book has a special page where you can collect all their autographs. The anthology is themed to match the Game Fair's annual theme. This year the theme is Gaming Around the World and the anthology is titled A Roll of the Dice. Stranglely enough, my story in the anthology is titled "Gaming the World (A Prequel to, and Introduction of Several Secondary Characters for, the Dick Thornby Thriller Series)." Yep, fans of my Dick Thornby Thriller Series can read a story about some of the HQ personnel from the Subsidiary. Grab a copy of the limited edition anthology at the con.

You can drop by my table to get me to sign the anthology and buy the rest of the Dick Thornby books or other novels by me, as well as story collections and anthologies I'm in.

I'm also scheduled to participate on a few panels.

Father's Day Gift

Suggestions

Since this newsletter is going out on Father's Day weekend, I am commercially obligated to tell you about various items you can access via my website and/or Amazon that would make great Father's Day gifts. Of course, you can get my short, humorous, award-winning memoir, Father's Day, as a solo tale for just 99 cents. Or, you can grab it along with two other stories in my Father's Day: 3-Story Collection for not much more money (a countdown deal is counting down as I send this).

If you dad or father figure is fond of what the book trade calls "men's action/adventure," you could get him any or all of my Dick Thornby Thrillers in ebook, print, or even audio versions (see all the links later in this newsletter to go right to the point of purchase.) Dick is a spy who is just a regular guy like you (or your dad) with a wife, a mortgage, a kid who spends way too much time on the computer, and a boss who thinks he uses too many explosives.

If your dad or father figure is a hit man or a writer or a fan of mysteries, he might like Frame Shop: Critquing Another Writer Can be Murder, my tale of death in a suburban writers' group. I've also got Forced Conversion for any military science fiction fans, as well as GREENSWORD, my darkly comedic take on global warming.

And, if dear old dad prefers just sitting back with a bucket of buttery popcorn and a cold drink while he watches monster and disaster flicks of questionable quality on the SyFy Channel, he might enjoy Buck Hanno's Ratfish (A Schlock Zone Drive-In Novella). Lots more stories and information about my writing at www.donaldjbingle.com.

The Dick Thornby Thriller Series

The omni version of The Dick Thornby Thriller Series became available this year. Now you can give an entire series of exciting spy thrillers about a regular guy who takes on some of the biggest and most bizarre conspiracy and disaster theories you can find on the world wide web in one honking big book. If ebooks aren't your thing, you can grab Net Impact, Wet Work, and Flash Drive in print here. And, both Net Impact and Wet Work are available in audio. See the links at the end of this newsletter. And, if you want to start off an Audible subscription with either Net Impact or Wet Work, go here or here, respectively.

Dick Thornby isn't Hollywood's idea of a spy. He's a new kind of spy for a new kind of world.

Donald J. Bingle is the author of seven books and more than sixty shorter works in the horror, thriller, science fiction, mystery, fantasy, steampunk, romance, comedy, and memoir genres. His books include Forced Conversion (near future military scifi), GREENSWORD (darkly comedic eco-thriller), Frame Shop (murder in a suburban writers' group), and the Dick Thornby spy thriller series (Net Impact, Wet Work, and Flash Drive). He also co-authored (with Jean Rabe) The Love-Haight Case Files series (a three-time Silver Falchion winning paranormal urban fantasy about two lawyers who represent the legal rights of supernatural creatures in a magic-filled San Francisco; Book 2 just came out). Don also edited Familiar Spirits (an anthology of ghost stories).

Many of Don's shorter works can be found in his Writer on Demand TM collections.

Get the audiobook version of Net Impact at Audible.com, Amazon, and iTunes and the audiobook version of Wet Work at Audible.com, Amazon, and iTunes.
