NaNoWriMo: 50,000 Words. One Month. |
|

National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, runs midnight, Nov. 1, through 11:59 p.m., Nov. 30, challenging writers to compose a brand new, 50,000-word novel in 30 days. Come work on your writing project or NaNoWriMo word count with other writers at our "Come Write In" sessions! Plenty of outlets will be available for charging laptops and other devices, but registration is required, as space is limited. For more information, visit events.yclibrary.org. |

New Service: 24-Hour Contactless Pickup! |

Our new Library Lockers are now available to YCL cardholders for convenient, 24-hour pickup service at all YCL locations! Using the lockers is simple! Just place a hold on the items you want to check out, choose a Library Locker pickup location, and wait for an email notifying you when your items are ready. You may then visit your designated Library Locker and scan your library card or enter your card's barcode number to open the locker door and retrieve your materials! Join YCL for Beanstack's sixth annual Winter Reading Challenge! This year’s theme, "All the Feels," encourages readers of all ages to feel, experience, and dive into how reading enlivens our emotions. We challenge York County to read at least 2 million minutes as we compete to win cash prizes, shared among the top-performing libraries and schools across the nation. Registration starts November 28! YCL Joins 'Mural Mile' We're excited to join the Mural Mile Project at the Main Library in Rock Hill! This mural celebrates the life of beloved artist Vernon Grant and serves as the largest mural in York County. The beautiful piece of art was designed by illustrator Jill Pratzon and brought to life by muralist Osiris Rain. Stop by to see it soon, and be sure to check out the library's new indoor signage while you're there! |

YCL Celebrates Genealogy & Family History |

Thank you to everyone who helped make YCL's Genealogy & Family History Expo a huge success! 170 genealogists met on Oct. 15 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Fort Mill to join fellow enthusiasts, researchers, and family history buffs. It was a full day of genealogy and family history education, friendship, support, and fun! YCL also thanks the Friends of the Library for co-sponsoring this exclusive community event. |

York County Library Hours & Closing Notices All Locations: Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Main Library (Rock Hill), Fort Mill, & Lake Wylie: Saturday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Clover & York: Saturday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Staff Development Day: All York County Library locations will be closed Wednesday, November 9, for staff training. Veteran’s Day: All York County Library locations will be closed Friday, Nov. 11, through Sunday, Nov. 13. Thanksgiving: All York County Library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, and remain closed through Sunday, Nov. 27. Friends Books on Main will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 24. From Nov. 25 through Dec. 18, store hours will be expanded for the holidays! Stop by 206 E. Main St. in Old Town Rock Hill, Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sundays from 12:30–4 p.m.
