"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before." -Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Aloha from the Big Island of Hawai'i!
This past week I've been thinking a lot about what it means to be creative. One of my favorite moments while teaching a class is when the room goes silent, and I'm able to watch the concentration, dedication, and creativity flow. I'll be honest with you, I used to think I was not creative in the least, and definitely not artistic. I used to have such a narrow understanding of the word until years ago when I first heard the quote above. Now, I've never known a word to be so fluid in its meaning, as I believe the ability and desire to create is within each and everyone of us. Creativity can be developing a business plan, doodling on a piece of paper, piecing together a teaching curriculum, jotting down ideas and inspirations, whistling a new tune, building something new or fixing something that is broken, or even organizing an event or an activity. So if you ever think to yourself, "Oh I'm not the creative type", think again!! My friend, you are uniquely you, and your ability to create is infinite. I hope that you keep creating, continue growing, and find all the joy in your journey.
Noho me ka hau’oli. (Live Happily/ Be Happy)
XO
