MEET ROSEMARY

Meet Rosemary (aka “Rosie”). I first met Rosie over the phone at the beginning of August 2020 after she saw me on the CTV News Morning Show “Living Well”. I could hear it in her voice: she was breathless and broken. Rosie, 51 years of age, stood five-feet tall and weighed 259lbs. I knew I had to help her.

 

So, together, Rosie and I set out on the biggest wellness journey of her life. And in just 10 months, amidst a pandemic, she’s made the most incredible progress! It is my pleasure and honor to introduce my client Rosemary and share with you our journey together thus far.

"Hello, my name is Rosemary and I would like to share with you my personal health journey that I have been on since August of 2020 and the changes I’ve made in my life.


Back in March of 2020 I was at my heaviest weight of 259lbs.  I am only five feet tall so that means I was considered to be clinically obese. Saying that word is frightening for many reasons. I looked and felt horrible ALL the time. Every time I saw my reflection in the mirror I couldn't even recognize who I was anymore.  I knew that I wanted to change but with so much information out there on what to eat and what not to eat I was so confused and I didn’t know where to begin."

"I was always out of breath from walking up the stairs and my ankles were so swollen and ugly to look at. I had so much bloating and inflammation everywhere in my body and my face. Because of this I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea that requires me to use a CPAP machine to help me breathe at night. My doctor informed me that my liver enzymes were elevated which scared me; I was at risk for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, Type 2 Diabetes and so many other preventable chronic diseases. I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired."

"I was watching CTV Morning Live one day and I’m so glad I saw a particular segment called Living Well. That’s where I saw this amazing, beautiful and kind woman who has helped me change my life and wellbeing forever; her name is Michelle O’Brien."

"I reached out to Michelle and she designed a Custom Wellness Program for me to follow that was healthy, enjoyable and realistic. She taught me everything I needed to know about how to fuel my body and how to exercise to get stronger, reduce inflammation and improve my mobility. I've learned so much through our bi-weekly Virtual Wellness Coaching sessions together."

"I love all the food that I am eating. I do not feel deprived and OMG all the sugar cravings are gone! I religiously walk everyday and three days a week I do resistance training with hand weights and bands. I will be honest with you, I hated walking, but now I LOVE it! At first it was hard (I could walk 15 minutes MAX) but I took one day at a time and it got easier. Now I walk 45-60 minutes per day: wind, snow, rain or shine."

Reduction in Rosie's inflammation from August 2020 to June 2021.

"I now weigh 181lbs!! I have lost 78lbs so far and counting. I feel great! No more bloating or swollen ankles; my mobility is amazing and I can walk faster now. When I look in the mirror I can slowly see the REAL ME coming back. Michelle mentioned to me during our last Virtual Wellness Coaching session that I was no longer breathless when I happened to climb my basement stairs to go get something during our session. Doing everyday things is so much easier for me!"

An excerpt from Rosemary's CPAP 6-month progress report:

 

Rosemary, your hard work is showing!

~ average nightly pressures have been steadily getting lower over the past few months (14-16 units each night to between 10-12 units)  
~ this is a significant change; your machine is not having to work as hard to open your airway due to your weight loss
~ apnea events on CPAP have also been lower, and more consistent over the last 3 – 4 months, which is excellent to see

 

You should be extremely proud of how far you’ve come in such a short period.  I’m glad the machine has been able to provide some support to help out in the meantime, but I completely understand not wanting to need it at all, and you have already made so much progress in such short time!

  • emotional reflection, building self-worth, confidence & self-efficacy
  • practice mindful-based meditation, relaxation, stress management techniques & establish healthy coping strategies

ALL coaching clients have unlimited email and text communication with me outside of our schedule sessions. I am here to support you EVERY step of the way.

Sessions are available in weekly & bi-weekly packages as well as monthly sessions. All sessions are 30-minutes long and facilitated via FaceTime, Skype, Zoom or WhatsApp.

 

I care about ALL aspects of my clients' health - not just the aesthetics. This is why O'Brien Fitness offers a "Total Body Approach."
