Dear Friends,

I had the great joy of highlighting American artists and academics for a U.S. Embassy Moscow speaker series, produced by the Forum for Cultural Engagement and the American Center in Moscow. Some of the panels and presentations are still available online at the links below. Most exhilarating was hearing the questions, insights and ideas from the Russian audience.  I hope you'll check out these inspiring speakers and conversations:

Esther Kim Lee and Curt Columbus spoke on American Theater: History and Current Landscape.

David Aiona Chang presented on Native Hawaiians: History and Present Day.

DeLanna Studi, Actor, Playwright and Citizen of Cherokee Nation, joined us for a conversation about her work.

Executive Producer of the Apollo, Kamilla Forbes, joined us in conversation about her work.

Kristina Matvienko and Stacy Wolf discussed Russian and American musical theater.

These speakers explored their respective topics of American history, theater, TV and film from a diversity of perspectives, illuminating narratives which were lesser-known to the Russian audience. The overall goal of the speaker series was "to share America with Russia." In each conversation, the act of sharing rebounded connection and empathy, intangible international currencies, which left this moderator feeling hopeful and optimistic.

With Aloha,

Seema
