Menopause Yoga: everything you need to know - what is it and who is it for?
Yoga for Menopause Workshops and Classes are for all women over age 35
#pre-peri-post
Menopause can take place anytime between age 40 and 55 and c13 million women in the UK over age 45 are currently in menopause. The word Menopause simply refers to the pause or cessation of your menstrual cycle, after a clear 12 month lapse since your last period.
Prior to age 45, you enter a 10 year period known as PRE-menopause. During this time the ovaries gradually stop maturing eggs and releasing large amounts of hormones. A few years before and one year after your final period you enter PERI-menopause where symptoms caused by declining progesterone levels and lack of ovulation start to become more apparent.
Some of the more well-known symptoms include hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, insomnia, vaginal dryness, lack of sex-drive, weight gain and irregular periods, as well as lesser-known ones such as breast tenderness, headaches and heavier, prolonged menstrual flows.

What happens at a Yoga for Menopause Workshop?
A typical workshop begins with a sharing circle which is an incredibly powerful way to support one another by sharing experiences in a safe and non-judgemental space. It’s important to note that there is no obligation or pressure to speak, you are welcome to simply observe and listen here. Using knowledge from Western Medical science together with eastern wellbeing techniques, Menopause Yoga aims to create a toolkit for women to better understand and manage their own symptoms as they transition through the different stages of menopause.
The workshops encourage self-management through techniques using specific yoga poses, breath-work, guided meditation, journaling, restorative yoga and mindfulness. Specific Yoga sequences are designed to burn off rage, ground you, calm your mind, reduce anxiety, overwhelm and brain fog, shake off lethargy and low mood, as well as address a whole host of other issues.
New! Yoga for Menopause Classes coming soon
As well as the workshops, shorter Menopause Yoga Classes are coming soon, which will include a specific yoga sequence including restorative poses, a guided meditation and relaxation session, all aiming to reset your nervous system, reduce anxiety, promote equilibrium and better sleep patterns, as well as addressing certain specific symptoms.
These classes are suitable for women of all ages wherever they are in their menstrual lifecycle.
