Message from the Chair

Dear Arapahoe County Republicans,

We have great candidates for local, state and federal offices! Please see our website "2024 Candidates" page here for the entire listing of all our outstanding Republicans shouldering civic responsibility to represent you.

In the previous Part 1 and this Part 2, we are featuring only the Arapahoe County-related offices with more than one Republican candidate running. The sole competitive race is for Congressional District 4 (CD4) which overlaps into part of northern and eastern Arapahoe County. Details of our invitations to all of the CD4 candidates are provided in the following section.

So much is going on in our County! Our strong candidates are hard at work participating in Candidate Forums, Meet & Greets, and Fundraisers. They’re walking their districts, attending community meetings and writing Op-Eds.

We will continue to share updates, information and candidate perspectives with you following the primary election.

Please note and please VOTE - although most of our county-related races are uncontested with only a single Republican candidate running, a strong Republican showing at the polls is important and tells our opponents that we are engaged, supportive and will fight for our candidates.

Warm Regards and In Liberty,

Anne

Anne Rowland

Chair

Arapahoe County Republican Party

The previous newsletter "Part 1" was sent to you on June 3rd and contained responses from three of the CD4 candidates; Debra Flora, Richard Holtorf and Jerry Sonnenberg.

We gave each of the remaining three candidates additional time to respond to our request and only Lauren Boebert did so. Her answers to the questions we posed are published below this introduction.

Here again is the information on the race and our questions previously included in the "Part 1" newsletter of a couple of weeks ago.

Candidate Forum for US Colorado Congressional District 4

* This is "Part 2" of a two-part newsletter. Please see the details below.

* Click here to review "Part 1" of the newsletter.

We have a Colorado Primary Election approaching to be held on Tuesday, June 25. There is only one contested Primary race among Arapahoe-related Republicans and that is for the Congressional District 4 seat which covers a vast area of Northern, Southeastern and Central Colorado.

US House of Representatives Congressman Ken Buck has recently resigned his position representing these good people which places a Special Election on the ballot to replace him for the six months left in his term.

This gives you two votes to cast. First, you will vote for Greg Lopez, the only Republican running to replace Ken Buck. This "Special Election" will be clearly identified on the ballot. It is vitally important that Greg wins the Special Election to keep the seat in Republican hands and retain our House majority.

Second, you will also vote for a Republican who will represent you and our party into the future, beginning on January 4, 2025.

We asked each of the six very strong candidates running for CD4 to briefly introduce themselves and then answer four important questions. We asked them to limit their response to 600 words.

Here are the six candidates:

  • Lauren Boebert

  • Deborah Flora

  • Richard Holtorf

  • Mike Lynch

  • Jerry Sonnenberg

  • Peter Yu

The introduction request and the three questions we posed are:

Introduction: Please provide a 3 point highlight introducing yourself.

  1. What are your top 5 priority projects to accomplish if elected?

  2. Some of our previous and current Colorado Congressional Representatives seem

disconnected from their Party and from their constituency. How can we have

confidence you won't do the same?

  3. What makes you more electable than your opponents?

The candidates responded to our questions and shared with us why they believe they are the best person to fill the CD4 seat and what they will do if elected.

* Included below is a statement from Greg Lopez.

Also here are responses to our three questions from Lauren Boebert the only candidate of the three that were not included in the previous "Part 1" newsletter. Congresswoman Boebert was the only one of the three to respond. Mike Lynch and Peter Yu chose not respond.

Candidates for U.S. House of Representatives Congressional District 4

Greg Lopez is running as the Republican candidate in a Special Election to complete former Congressman Buck's remaining 6 month term. Greg is running against a Democrat in this Special Election.

Here is Greg's promise to you.

Greg Lopez

Campaign Website: greglopez.com

Let me start by saying, “It is a privilege and an honor to be selected as the Republican representative for the CD4 June 25th Special Election.”

My goal is to be a strong conservative voice in Congress for the remaining 6 months, and to be a strategic partner for the primary winner. We have a great slate of candidates vying to be a member of the 119th U.S. Congress as the representative for CD4.  I look forward to promoting the candidate who will proceed onto the General Election.

Be assured that my team and I will work hard to protect the CD4 congressional seat.  We will not allow the Democrats to take this very important position away from us.  I ask that each of you stand alongside me in this battle.  Together we will be victorious. Let us make history and shape the future of Colorado and our country.

Elected representatives work for the people and should always be held accountable for their actions. Leadership is bold action, not just holding a position and actions speak louder than words.

I am running to serve you - not as a placeholder - but to serve as a principle-holder for the founding principles of our country and the values that unite the people of Colorado.

Here's more of who I am and what I've accomplished along the way:

  • Former candidate for Colorado Governor 2018 & 2022

  • Pres. & CEO of Colorado Hispanic Republicans

  • Elected Mayor / City Manager of Parker, CO at age 27

  • Former President of the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

  • A veteran of the United States Air Force

  • Small Business Owner

  • Married to Lisa for 36 years with two adult children

  • Lives in Elizabeth, Colorado

Please don't overlook the Special Election on your Primary Ballot and please cast your vote for me so we can keep a Republican in this seat and maintain our party's majority in the U.S. Congress!

Thank you!

Greg Lopez

Lauren Boebert

Introduction: Give a 3 point highlight introducing yourself.

  • Coloradans have seen me fighting for their values and interests every day in

Congress and now more than ever, we need proven conservative fighters who will

work with President Trump in 2025 to get our country back on track.

  • I am the Trump-endorsed, America First candidate in the race and I have shown

that I will vote exactly how I campaign.

  • I'm proud to have a 100% Conservative voting record and have successfully

passed 87 different initiatives and policies into law, proving that you don't need to

compromise your principles to get things done.

What are your top 5 priority projects to accomplish if elected?

  1. Build The Wall & Deport Them All Act to implement President Trump's border

    policies.

  2. Working with President Donald J. Trump to radically reform the "fourth branch"

of government: the bureaucrats who have worked against conservative policies

    and weaponized our federal government.

  3. Unleashing American energy production and encouraging our Colorado oil & gas

producers to continue producing the cleanest natural gas in the world.

  4. Stopping the reckless spending and funding of foreign wars that have led to

nearly $35 trillion in debt with which our children and grandchildren will be

    saddled.

  5. Protecting our natural resources like water and our forests while ensuring our

ranchers and farmers have the support they need to continue feeding our nation.

Some of our previous and current Colorado Congressional Representatives seem disconnected from their Party and from their constituency. How can we have confidence you won't do the same?

Since representing Colorado in Congress, I have traveled thousands of miles to every part of my district to be present and listen to my constituents. Many of the pieces of legislation and successful amendments and budget requests have come directly from the meetings I have with local stakeholders and community leaders. Coloradans see me in action every day fighting for their values and proudly defending our Party platform.

What makes you more electable than your opponents?

My opponents like to talk about electability, but none of them have been elected to Congress. I've done it, I know what it takes, and I will do it again in the 4th District.
