July, 2023 NEW BAND PAGE ON THE WEBSITE! - Hey Bands - Send your Band One-Sheet to us, and we will publish it on our newest "Bands for Hire" page here. MEMBERS ALERT! - We're THRILLED at the over 50 new memberships that we've registered since March! BUT, there are still over 40 folks whose memberships have expired. We don't want to lose you! Remember, members get big discounts on all events we host, as well as other percs. WHAT KIND OF MEMBER AM I? - There has been some confusion regarding the "Members Area" of the website. This area is for "Site Members" -- you DON'T have to be an NNBA Member to have access to it. And it's free! To sign up, you enter your email address and create a password. Of course, if you want the benefits of NNBA Membership, we hope you'll join us, too! MEMORY JOG! - In this world of media saturation, it can be hard to remember details of things! The NNBA Events Calendar is here to help! If you look in the upper right corner, you'll see that there are 3 different views --- Pinboard, Agenda, Monthly. Put your events on the Calendar by sending them to info@nnba.org by the 5th of each month! |

We're still accepting newsie bits for our Summer Newsletter (deadline July 15). Send us stories and pictures about your personal Bluegrass experiences or bands or artists. Send us informational articles on topics related to Bluegrass music -- travel articles, festival reviews, Music Camp descriptions. Want to nominate someone for "Member Spotlight" or give us "tips" about topics you'd like us to feature? Send it all to info@nnba.org Check out the new Forum on the website! There are three different sections -- 1) Marketplace (buy/sell/trade), 2) Gigs, Jams, Shows Announcements, and 3) General Discussions. Click here to have a look around. Upload your gig flyers and announcements! Board Business - We had a very productive NNBA Board Meeting in June, and you can see the minutes here. Remember, we're a Membership organization, and always interested in what you all have to say and suggest to us. The Board meets the 1st Thursday of every month, and you're all welcome to attend. All our agendas and minutes are on our website, in the Members Area. Build Your Bluegrass Repertoire Class meets Wed. July 6, 6:30 at 627 Sunnyside Dr, Reno (1st Congregational Church). This month, we'll play all 5 tunes we've learned so far this year. If you're new to this class, or you've lost track of some of your materials, they're all available online here. If you've never signed into this before, it will ask you to enter your email and create a password. Don't worry, it's free! You don't have to be a member of NNBA to become a "site member". Once you're a site member, you'll have access to all these materials -- there are lyrics, chord charts, recordings to practice with, and tablature/notation for rhythm and leads for every Bluegrass instrument. It's a lot of fun, and a great way to learn new tunes. |

It's hard to believe there are still some folks who haven't heard yet, but just in case.... 37th Annual Bowers Bluegrass Festival is coming up Thurs-Sun, Aug. 24 - 27!! Early Bird Discounted Passes are available for just a few more weeks, then the prices go up! The Early Bird Passes are $40 for NNBA members*, and $50 for non-members. They get you into ALL events on Friday - Sunday. Twelve great bands, vendors, a Beer & Wine Garden, Food Trucks, Workshops, Tweeners, the Bluegrass Petting Zoo, Raffles, Kids' Activities and more. Additional "Add On" events on Thursday include a Jam Camp and Chuckwagon Supper at our new camping location, Washoe Lake State Park. Speaking of camping -- we chose this new location because jamming is allowed 24-hrs-a-day here! It's a 10 minute drive to the Main Stage at Bowers Park, and we will be providing a van shuttle service on Friday and Saturday for the shows on the Main Stage. *NNBA Members receive codes via email to enter into the check-out section when purchasing tickets to all NNBA events. If you're a member, and need a code, just contact us at info@nnba.org |

VOLUNTEERS WANTED! Thanks to all that have already signed up! This year we ARE giving you t-shirts! Of course, we're asking a lot of Volunteers this year -- 6 hours commitment, to be specific. But you can spread that 6 hours over the 4 days of the event (or you can volunteer at our Booth at Grass Valley!). There are LOTS of duties that need doing, before, during and after the event, and we'll work with you to create a schedule that will allow you to do the things at the Festival that you want to do. Click the button to learn about the percs and requirements to be a Volunteer. | | |

About NNBA NNBA has been around since the 70's! Incorporated in 2004 as as a 501c3 non-profit arts and education organization, NNBA receives partial funding from the Nevada Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts as well as regional grant sources such as the Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation. NNBA is also a membership organization, and memberships constitute a significant portion of our annual revenue. We've seen a decline in memberships in recent years, with the pandemic and all. So, we're striving to offer more bang for your buck, and hope you'll join (or re-join)! A 12-month membership is only $15, and you get significant discounts on events (up to $20 off Festival passes! free twice monthly Beginner classes! and more!). Click here for more membership information. |
