Message from the Founder As we prepare to close out 2022, we say goodbye to the past and greet the future with renewed energy and focus. For many of us, this year has brought immense challenges. Yet, resilience endures because we have been gifted joyful moments in which we can relish. 2022 was one of advancement. My heartfelt appreciation to our leadership team, without whom this would not have been possible. Sherry, Bobbie, Joette, Beth, Sherlenia, Gloria, Alexis, LaRuth, and Talia, you Sisters rock! Thank you for uplifting my family and me. You are my rock. Moving forward into 2023, Sister-to-Sister: International Network of Professional African American Women's Inc.'s growth will continue as we, with your support, work to broaden its impact and enhance your and others' lives. You can contribute by becoming a paid member, if you aren't already; making a one time or monthly donation of $29, in recognition of our 29 years of Sisterhood; and/or volunteering. If you would have questions related to how you can help, please contact us at 1.303.5361203 or at info@sister.to.sister.org. Velveta |

Towards Health Equity: Saving Lives of Black Mothers & Infants As acknowledged by the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control, and other premier health organizations, racial and ethnic disparities in health and healthcare present a national public health crisis. Sister-to-Sister, Inc. is working to help eradicate such disparities, improve health outcomes, and thus, enhance quality of life. Data, based in science, show that regardless of socioeconomic status or level of education, Black women are three to four times more likely to die in childbirth than non-Hispanic white females. Data further illustrate that Black infants are two twice as likely to die before age 1 than non-Hispanic white babies. You are invited to join us at our free private hybrid screening of the award-winning Aftershock documentary on January 21, 2023, and at our inaugural educational fundraiser on February 25, 2023. The link to the Aftershock trailer is shared below. Register at EventBrite for the film's screening, using the link provided below. There are limited access codes for those interested in participating, virtually. If you would like one, email us at info@sister-to-sister.org by January 5, 2023. The January 2023 newsletter will include additional information on our gala. Undoubtedly, it will be an evening to remember. |
