In general, what is your athletic background? I played lots of sports growing up, soccer, tennis, football, lacrosse, skiing. I was always very active.

 

How did you learn about CrossFit Kalamazoo? My girlfriend Nina finally convinced me to come with her after months of trying.

 

How has CrossFit Kalamazoo changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness? After joining CrossFit Kalamazoo back in December 2017,  I am in the best shape I’ve been in since high school. I have lost about 45lbs and feel the best I have in years. CrossFit has inspired me to lead a healthier lifestyle through clean eating and going to the gym 4-5 days a week.


List short/long term goals you would like to accomplish through CrossFit Kalamazoo:

 

I want to continue working hard and losing weight. I’d really like to get my first muscle-up.

 

What do you like most about CrossFit Kalamazoo? 

I really like the community and the welcoming and supportive atmosphere they bring to the gym.

What advice would you give someone thinking about starting CrossFit Kalamazoo? If I can do it, so can you. It will be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made.

 

 

What is your favorite CrossFit movement? Cleans or deadlifts.

 

What is your least favorite CrossFit movement?  Toes to bar because it kills my hands. Also bear crawl, I don’t know why but I hate it.

 

What are you currently doing to try to improve your diet?

Not eating bad on the weekends, it is hard for me to stick to my diet when I am feeling lazy.

 

Favorite movie: I don’t have a favorite.

Favorite music genre/artist: Bass Music/Hip Hop

 

Achievements you’d like to highlight within your life: 

iGraduated with a B.A. in Supply Chain Management from WMU in April 2017.

 

2 years with my current employer as a Strategic Buyer.

I have a passion for cooking.

My favorite food is sushi.

John Dwyer and I have been friends since kindergarten.

Nobody should have to experience being thrown right into a group class without proper instruction first. You’re looking for guidance and support but being put right into a workout with a group of people can be scary! That doesn’t happen at CrossFit Kalamazoo.  The steps for your success: 

 

1. Schedule a Try A Class or On-Ramp Session
2. You’ll meet with your Coach
3. You’ll transition slowly into a group class
4. You’ll reach your goals!

On-Ramp Class - 6 Week Session

Our On-Ramp Class is your first step to reach your fitness goals!

 

You don't have to be fit to start. No matter how old you are, or your current level of fitness, we are ready to help you make a life change! All you need is a desire to improve your fitness and health! Our On-Ramp classes are programmed to ease you in to CrossFit and will eliminate any intimidation about getting started!

 

The On-Ramp Classes (2 weeks) are bundled with an unlimited monthly membership (4 weeks). The On-Ramp portion includes 5 classes scheduled with a Coach over a two week period. Once you complete the 5 On-Ramp Classes, you'll advance on to our regular classes and have 4 weeks of unlimited membership!

 

The On-Ramp Class is programmed to teach new Athletes the basic fundamentals of CrossFit. We'll go over nutrition, stretches, gymnastic/body weight exercises, metabolic conditioning, Olympic Lifts and Power Lifts. The flow of the class involves mostly coaching, is similar to a regular workout and is scaled so our new Athletes can master the movements in a smaller group setting before joining the larger class.

Our On-Ramp Rate is $200! 

This breaks down to only ~$8 a class

(5 On-Ramp Classes and estimate attending 20 classes during the unlimited 4 week period after On-Ramp).

Functional Movements - Walking Lunges!

Walking lunges!  What a a great way to develop unilateral leg function, strength, increase leg hypertrophy, and bridge the gap between strength training in the gym and real-world movement and function.

 

Everyone should do them as they address muscle asymmetries, weaknesses, and even address unilateral leg strength. Lunges have many benefits, are safe to do, and are also easy-to-learn. We considered these a must-have addition to your workout routines to help you'll achieve:
