Believe it or not, October is almost over. That means... this year is almost over. Whether you can't wait for the year to end or can't believe it's almost over...the giving season is now upon us! Each year, it's estimated that over 30% of US giving takes place in December as people think about spreading cheer, doing good, and their upcoming tax bill. This issue will help you prepare for the giving season so that you can make intentional giving plans you don't regret come January. And guess what - the newsletter is even more pink now. Enjoy! - Perry Radford, Founder and Principal, Rad Philanthropy. |

It's incredibly common for people to consider their tax advantages when it comes to their donation strategies. If you're doing this, how much are actually realizing these tax benefits? Yield & Spread has a great primer on this as well as additional resources to help you determine what giving strategies will get you your desired outcome. Download the guide here to learn more about these key tactics: The trade-offs between donating different asset types, such as cash and securities (such as stock or crypto) When is the right scenario for you to use a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) as part of your giving strategy How to use the itemized tax deduction to truly make your gifts tax-deductible Making multiple years worth of gifts at once, aka bundling, to get the most out of an itemized deduction

Rad Reflections How the "best" gifts can influence your giving intentions To get folks thinking both big picture and incredibly internally about how they connect to giving, I love asking these two questions: What was the best gift you've ever received? What was the best gift you've ever given?
Take a couple moments and really think about your answers to these! These moments can tell us a lot about ourselves as I believe giving is a medium by which we express our innermost and most closely-held values through actions. In that context, how you give, from a gift at a party to a donation to a non-profit, fundamentally reflects something about you. Question 1 can help you look back at key moments that shaped you or held profound connection for you. Why was that gift so touching? What did you feel, or what impact did it have on you? Now, imagine about how you might be able to do that for someone else. Pretty strong feeling, right? Question 2 can remind you to get out of your head and think about the experience of someone else. That feeling may be just as strong as how you felt about the first question. And it might help you think about what elements make up your ideal gift, whether it's for a family member on a holiday or for an organization at year-end. Since I'm one of those people that believes the "best" gift isn't always the most expensive or exclusive, I challenge you to think about how you answered Questions 1 and 2 as you make plans around holiday gift-giving or year-end donating. May you have the "best" giving season ever this year! |

As a devoted Angeleno, there is a large place in my heart and my stomach for El Cholo. How many restaurants can tout employees who have collectively been on staff for HUNDREDS of years AND make this foodie gleeful with recipes decades older than myself? Now they're doing something even more awesome for their 100th birthday - raising ONE MILLION DOLLARS for pediatric cancer research at Children's Hospital LA. Chimichangas, margaritas, LA history, AND A GOOD CAUSE?!?! For a gift of $5,000 you can support this campaign and find eternal glory with a booth named in your honor. If that's not going to happen, I am pleased to say that a $100 gift comes with the option for free nachos through the end of the year. Well, what are you waiting for? |
