February Newsletter

What has been happening at our house lately!

We have an almost new barn! Two weeks ago, the crew we hired came and got the north, south & east side done. On the west side is a lean-to and it didn't need replaced. Next up, the roof. When the snow melts and it is a nicer day, they will come back and get it done. It makes me a little sad to see the 100 year old character get covered up, but we knew that it was time to do it. This barn is where the kids keep their show animals in. Wade is working on getting a heated wash room done. If you watch my stories, I gave an update on the progress. It is slow, as he has a full time job, but it is getting there.

Stay tuned to see when it gets done!

What I am Reading & Watching

This book has literally changed my life. I have read it multiple times and each time I get something out of it. David Goggins has lived a life filled with many failures & successes. He speaks his mind & it really hits home for a lot people. If you decide to read it, let me know what you think. Forewarning: it does contain a lot of cuss words.

Tulsa King! This show is something completely different than what I normally watch, but I love it! This is a show that Taylor Sheridan created. Sylvester Stallone plays a Mafia capo who just got out of prison and is sent to Tulsa, where he tries to set up a criminal organization. I have watched all the episodes and am anxiously waiting for Season 2!

Top Tips for Training

Training starts the minute you pick up your furry friend! Puppy-proofing you home is a huge undertaking, but truly sets both you and your puppy up for success. Know where your pupy will sleep, play and go potty. Also, think about what areas of your home will be off-limits. When you set them, stick to them.

Here are my top tips:

  •  Keep an eye on your puppy at all times.

  • Make bedtime extra cozy.

  • The first few nights, make sure you keep their kennel away from where you can hear them. The first nights will be tough!

  • Keep at schedule.

  • Learn & watch your puppy's body language & potty signs

  • Make sure you teach your puppy not to bite.

  •  Keep training a daily thing & use rewards.
