How are we supposed to exemplify the values and mission of a company when we are exhausted and running on empty?
There are many ways leaders can honor the spirit and work of their people, inspiring them to even greater innovation and success. Our favorite way is through celebrations!
There are so many ways to celebrate our people. Sometimes it is bringing them together and having a fun experience together. Sometimes it is as simple as acknowledging individuals for who they are, especially in front of the team. Notice, we did not say for what they do. Instead, we know the positive impact will be long-lasting when we focus on who they are.
Here's an example:
What they do -
"Thanks for taking care of that difficult client."
Who they are -
"I appreciate how understanding and compassionate you are with our clients."
Which statement lets the person know they are truly seen for how they show up at work? You got it. It's the one that celebrates who they are.
Maybe the most important celebration of all, rest. One of our favorite clients surprised his team after a particularly grueling deliverable with a little bonus, as well as a companywide Friday and Monday off. People returned from their 4-day weekend rejuvenated, appreciated and ready to be productive. What would make your team feel seen, heard and valued?
