Dear Cantare Italiano Subscribers,
thank you for becoming part of this community!
I would like to introduce my first newsletter ever with this anecdote.
My first day of work as a voice teacher was October 10th, 2003: I was a 22yo Opera student in Bologna when I got hired by a private Music school of the same city, upon recommendation of one of my Conservatory teachers; on that very day at 5am, though, my phone rang with the news that my dad had passed away back in our Apulia - so I missed my first day of work (and even forgot to call them).
I've always pondered on the implications of this coincidence of events in my life, because what was supposed to be a part time job in my youth became my living and made me my family man ever since: and after two Conservatory degrees, eighteen years of uninterrupted coaching activity and a book in two languages, here I am standing on my feet, counting my blessings at the end of each month and staying completely independent in a globalised market. Since the very beginning of my studies I've been obsessed with the idea of finding a good Maestro, but I couldn't find one till I became one myself - and I owe it to you, who gave me the possibility to teach and explore this gift of mine.
For all this, I want to say from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for granting me -through the trust you monthly put in me, now that my workplace has spread from a private school in Bologna to the world wide web (I've never met in person a good 90% of you, unbelievable!)- the immense privilege of earning my life doing what I know, love and do best, and feel I can be most helpful with.
I love my job and the fact that my work can open worlds to a singer, or an audience.
My goal is to raise awareness and bring back more and more raw, vital prime matter in the products currently sold by a market that went global exponentially fast in the past 15-20 years.
