Communicating the Fall Plan

 

Universities, colleges and boarding schools have begun announcing concrete fall plans.  A handful of independent day schools have done the same, but for the most part, day school heads have staked out dates in July and even early August to announce their strategies.  If there is such a thing as comfort in these times, these heads hold a tiny handful of it as we watch the virus resurge, dramatically so in some parts of the country. 

 

The pieces in this edition of Ahead in the Count fall into two categories:  the importance of personalizing the communication of fall plans, and a radical educational alternative for elementary students. If you've followed my blog or social media activity, you know that I believe that remote learning for elementary age students is inherently inadequate and inequitable across the socio-economic spectrum, but for low-income families disastrous.
