What Does Summer Bring to You?
My garden is therapy for me and in the summer, I spend oodles of time out there. It’s a balance—requiring a lot of work to maintain but also brings out my creative side that I just love. I feel more alive out in my garden—clipping, weeding, harvesting and just soaking up the sun—than I do anywhere else on the planet. This year, we have had a ridiculous amount of two of my favorite garden goodies: tomatoes and cucumbers. I cannot get enough of either and I’ve been playing around with pickle recipes, tomato recipes and of course making a hefty amount of my favorite food on the planet—BLT’s! As a bonus, a few months ago I was introduced to making sourdough and have been adventuring through making fresh sourdough weekly. So with delish tomatoes from the garden as the backdrop, my BLT’s have been nothing short of epic! I’m also interested in making this tomato tart. Anyone got any great recipes? Send them my way!
Summer is moving fast towards what all parents consider “the end”, which is school starting. This year will bring new adventures for Zack as he will be attending a local charter school called Trivium and doing his “off days” at Fusion Academy here in Santa Barbara. Fusion was a game changer for Zack last year because at his old school he was not learning in a way that worked for his brain and how he operates. For Zack, distractions abound in a classroom of 30+ so we made a shift and it was amazing. Fusion is built and designed for kids that learn best when they are either 1:1 or in a small group setting. I’m happy to share more about this so hit reply and ask me anything! Ben will be a Jr. this year. I mean, how is that possible that my baby is going into his 11th grade of school? He will be at San Marcos HS where he’s been since 9th and will engage in the Health Academy in a bigger way this year. I’m super excited for both of my boys as they continue to grow, shift and make their way out into this world!
Whatever and wherever you are finding your time spent in this current season, I hope you are enjoying the big and small moments and finding joy and presence in all you do!
