President's Message

Hello Kern River Valley,

This past month has been fantastic in many ways, I wish to start off by welcoming Mock Music as our newest member to the Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce. I hope everyone with the slightest interest in music will stop into their business on Lake Isabella Blvd, what an amazing selection of instruments and knowledge of music.

Whiskey Flats WOW, great times had by all with fantastic weather. Congratulations to Rescue Robbie and Gary for winning the mayoral race along with a big shout out to Fill-it-up Phil with Two Stroke Teri, both candidates raised important funds for their causes.

Your chamber and the Isabella Lake Fishing Derby committee are working hard as we prepare for derby weekend in the not too distant future. This year’s derby is taking place from April 1 – June 4, 2023 and derby HQ will open on March 30 to welcome all the anglers looking for that $10,000 tagged trout on opening weekend.

If you have not joined the fun please do, you can sign up in person at the chamber of commerce or online at www.kernrivervalley.com adults will be $40 along with youth anglers at $15. It is a single entry for the two-month long event.

In addition on March 10 -12 we will have a booth at the Central Valley Sportsman’s Show which takes place at the Kern County Fair Grounds in Bakersfield where we will be promoting the Isabella Lake Fishing Derby along with the great Kern River Valley. Come on down and say hello, we look forward to seeing all of you.

Just in case anyone has been under a rock the past few months, please go take a look at our lake. Isabella is up to 133,000 acre feet and rising, with the snow pack in the high country the rafting companies will be having a great year and I wish to thank Mother Nature for blessing us with the water. Our valley businesses and our residents were in need of something positive to talk about after the last few years of challenges.

On March 8, 2023 your Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce is going to host our general membership meeting, versus a monthly speaker all of us will be the speaker as we share thoughts and ideas with everyone in a round robin type of platform. It would be a great time to come out and participate if you have anything to share or anyone specific you wish to speak with.

Please remember to utilize your chamber, we are here for you.

Thank you,

Fred Clark

President

Flags Along the Boulevard - Pride in Country

Eight times per year, the KRV shows its pride in America. The Flags Along the Boulevard program is a volunteer-led effort that places over 400 American flags along Lake Isabella's main throughfare.

The next American flags display will be on Presidents' Day,

Monday, February 20th, 2023.

Volunteer to place and remove the flags on any one of the eight dates that the flags are on display. Sponsor the flags program with a one-time or annual donation of $25 dollars - contributions to the program keep it going by replacing weather-damaged flags.
