Hello Ladies! I’ve spent much of 2023 traveling the world on business trips, and when I fly back and I’m driving, I’ll take deep breaths and finally relax when I drive across the Caloosahatchee River bridge or the bridge into Matlacha, just knowing I’m home. When you are away for awhile, you get a different perspective on the clean-up and rebuilding that is ongoing. We are coming up on eleven months since Ian, and while there is still a lot to do, I’m impressed by all that has happened. I’m so proud to be part of the Matlacha Hookers who have done so much for our community and will continue to do so. Very Sincerely, Deb Syring, Treasurer |

One of our sister Hookers, Janelle Cooley, recently lost her long-time partner and best friend. We are sad to share that Dennis (DL) Havlin passed away on Sunday, July 30th after a brief illness. DL was a well-known and accomplished writer, speaker, and historian. He published numerous novels featuring mystery, suspense, and fiction. Most of you know Janelle as not only a dedicated member, but we cannot recall an event where she had not signed up to volunteer her time. She even served on the Hookers Board of Directors for a couple of years. Please take some time to let her know that we care and drop her a note. Ms. Janelle Cooley 7881 Barrancas Avenue Bokeelia, FL 33922 |

Please keep Genie Andrews, our sister Hooker, former Chaplain and Hooker Board member, and her husband, Leigh, in your prayers. Leigh is having very serious health issues and is currently in the hospital. |

Shout-Out to Our Fabulous Merchandise Team! |
|
|
A well-deserved and sincere Shout Out to our amazing Hooker Merchandise Team, led by Linda Bohacek, and staffed by Jill Filgut and Jean Fromm - with a sprinkle of marketing expertise and enthusiasm from snowbird Diana Willit. This group has taken the Matlacha Hooker merchandise to a whole new level from years past. Not only do we have new shirts and designs, but also lots of new and fun merchandise: mugs, wine stoppers, car coasters, art work, tumblers, magnets.... and it's all visible and available online. In addition, this group attends many Matlacha Hooker and non-Hooker venues to market and sell our merchandise, resulting in generous revenues that are added to our general financial account. Matlacha Hooker members: please don't forget to take time at the next meeting to check out the new merchandise and say thanks to Linda, Jean, and Jill for all their creativity in selecting new merchandise and hard work setting up displays and selling it. Huge thanks to our Hooker Merchandise Team from all of us! |
