Cottonwood Hills Spring Newsletter

What a winter again! Last year was the latest opening we have ever seen-April 10. This year was no different. I spent over 60 hours on a tractor blowing snow off the greens and cart paths.  The greens look good, greening up, poa annua spots are brown with greener grass deeper in the canopy. This should green up with warmer temps. The rough might have a lot of snow mold but they will recover quickly. The tee boxes look good however, we will be using temporary tee boxes on par 3 holes along with the driving range tee. Your patience is appreciated as we get the course dialed in and ready for play.

     Thank you, Donald Moss, Superintendent

Wacky Women & Spring Refresher Clinic

We’ll be hosting the 4th annual Wacky Women’s golf tournament on June 11th. This tournament does fill up fast so don’t forget to get your registration forms from the golf shop and turn them in ASAP. In correlation with this event we are offering a Spring Refresher Clinic . Sign up sheets can be found in the golf shop to participate in this clinic.

Individual Men's League

Later this month we are starting an individual men's league. This will be a handicapped league that will play on Mondays or Tuesdays each week. If you would like to sign up or receive more information please email, info@cottonwoodhills.com.

Clubs & Equipement

We have the shop stocked with all the latest equipment. There's been a lot of buzz surrounding the M6 twist face technology and Callaway brought back the popular Apex irons. But the P790s are still a hot iron and if you haven't seen it Taylormade introduced the Spider Mini. To demo these clubs and go through a fitting using Trackman simply give us a call or stop by the golf shop to set up an appointment.

Junior Golf Opportunities

This year we’ll continue the same Little Linkers and Junior Golf programs but the day has switched to THURSDAYS. In addition to these weekly clinics we will be starting the PGA Jr. league program. This is a wonderful opportunity for all the young golfers out there. To sign up or learn more about the programs view our Juniors page. Another great program in the valley for junior golfers is the Wheat Montana Junior Golf Tour. To see the all the junior events happening throughout the state click HERE.

Pro AMs and Tournaments

The Pro AM and tournament schedule for the MSGA has been set and posted. All events that Cottonwood Hills will be participating in or host can be found on our website calendar or under Events and News. If you wish to represent Cottonwood Hills on a pro am team sign up sheets can be found in the golf shop.

2019 Rule Changes

As many of you already know there have been significant changes to the rules of golf. Click HERE to see the major changes outlined. There are also hard copies of the rule books available in the golf shop for you to pick up.

Trip-of-the-Month Raffle

Each month the Montana State Golf Association funds a junior grant program that helps courses, coaches, and schools develop or expand their programs. Cottonwood Hills was actually a recipient of one of these grants last year. We encourage you to support the junior golf programs throughout the state by purchasing a ticket. Several of our members and even our owners, Bob and Martha Quick have been a winner of the raffle.

Thank You

As we begin this golf season it has been so good to see familiar faces and welcome new members and patrons. We would like to thank you for your continued support here at Cottonwood Hills. Wishing everyone a wonderful golf season!!
