Dear Community, It's been an action-packed start to the new year, punctuated by the chaos of the ice storm. We hope that you have all stayed safe throughout the severe weather. Things have kept moving (relatively) smoothly at 21ten, and we are excited about everything still to come in the year ahead. Keep reading to find out more about what we've gotten up to, and to learn about some cool stuff happening around town. |

We have a week left in our run of Caryl Churchill's A Number. Thank you to everyone who's joined us at this taut pressure cooker of a play. We have been fortunate enough to receive features in Oregon ArtsWatch, Willamette Week, and The Oregonian. From The Oregonian's Lee Williams: "As a father (Bruce Burkhartsmeier) struggles to bond with his cloned sons (Alex Hurt), you feel every breath of suspense build up and surround you in the micro-black box theater — like a tension-filled hug.” Scott Thompson put together a couple of featurettes that shine a light on the creative process of building this show. Tickets are selling out for the final weekend of A Number. Buy yours today! |

Sunday Reading: Shakespeare's Skull by Rich Rubin |
A little over a week ago, we presented the January installment in our Sunday Reading Series: Shakespeare's Skull, a rollicking comedy about Shakespeare and the grave robbers who loved him by local playwright Rich Rubin. We had to reschedule the event after the ice storm caused a dent in our original plans, so we were thrilled to host a packed and lively house. Thank you to everyone who participated and attended this entirely volunteer-operated event. The reading, directed by Matt Pavik, featured Parth R, James Luster, Victoria Spelman, Ian Kleckner, Niels Truman, and Ted Rooney. |

World Builders at Bag&Baggage |
Friends of 21ten Bag&Baggage's new show is coming up in just a few weeks! Whitney and Max both build incredibly detailed and fantastical worlds in their minds and have been invited to partake in a clinical drug trial that could cure them of their schizoid personality disorders. As they experience this moment together, they begin to explore what it may look like to build a world for both of them to inhabit. This exploration of love and mental health, directed by Founding Artistic Director Scott Palmer, challenges the audience to consider their own reality and the perceptions we have of others. This play discusses schizoid personality disorders and other mental health topics. WORLD BUILDER at Bag&Baggage February 16 - March 3 Written by Johnna Adams Directed by Scott Palmer |
