As charitable donors, you always want the organization to which you are giving to use your gift in alignment with their mission and cause of the organization. Being on the other side of giving and running a non-profit organization, what we’ve found most heartening are the small things, the simple gestures, the baby steps that mean the most. It’s the little things…
~ Bringing our crazy art car to community events brings such joy to kids and adults alike. The kids enjoy touching the octopus or watching the twinkling brain lights and the adults are in awe of the car being a 40+ year old Subaru Brat.
~ Hearing stories about how families used their We’ll Get This! Uber gift card to buy a birthday cake for their child, who wouldn’t have otherwise been able to celebrate their birthday being confined to a hospital room.
~ Being able to provide an out-of-town family with a We’ll Get This! sweatshirt and blanket because they started their care in the summer wearing shorts and t-shirts and, due to complications, found themselves still in Houston shivering in the winter.
~ Relieving some financial burden and fear for a young family traveling for their child’s cancer treatment amidst never-ending rising gas prices.
~ Building personal relationships with the families we help because fighting cancer isn’t a one-time appointment. The simple thank-yous, virtual hugs, or Merry Christmas texts are rewarding and unforgettable.
The generosity of giving is fulfilling, and understanding the benefit and meaning of your gift can be extraordinary. Thank you the most for making Tobin’s dream a reality and helping so many that have a wide range of needs beyond the health care in their battle against childhood cancer.
