The Embassy of Kazakhstan have kindly made available for our paid-up members only, 20 copies of “A country profile – Kazakhstan”. This is an excellent guide to the history and culture of Kazakhstan, its politics, economic background, as well as its society, education, and key institutions. All in all, essential reading, and our directors commend the content. Please send an e-mail to our membership secretary with your address, and it will be posted to you. Corporate members can claim up to 3 copies each, but please remember copies are limited, and will be sent out on a first-come-first-served basis.

The British-Kazakh Society is hosting a webinar of a Ministerial level discussion of Strategic Trade Issues between Kazakhstan and the UK. We are proud to have Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Miss Assel Zhanassova and Minister of State for Trade Policy in the Department for International Trade of the UK Rt Hon Greg Hands as our keynote speakers.

Discussion between the speakers will be followed by a live Q&A session where you will have an opportunity to communicate directly with the speakers. 

There will also be available a simultaneous language interpretation to the Russian language.

'Dynamic Degrees: Unpacking Advanced Qualifications and Skills Pathways for Scientific and Industrial Development'

The British-Kazakh Society is hosting a webinar conversation between Dr. Miljana Radivojevic from University College London and Dr. Ainur Seitkan from Astana International University on the topics of dynamic degrees, advanced qualifications, and potential pathways to scientific and industrial development in Central Asia, Kazakhstan. This webinar initially was planned to be hosted on the 18th of May, but due to personal issues of one speaker the webinar was postponed to the 30th of June. 

Discussion between the speakers will be followed by a live Q&A session where you will have an opportunity to communicate directly with the speakers. 

There will also be available a simultaneous language interpretation to the Russian language.

Kazakhstan:

Nur-Sultan hosted the seventh Business Platform meeting, a dialogue on economic and business matters between the European Union and Kazakhstan (click here).

At a Foreign Investors Council, President Tokayev focused on economic diversification and a greener economy (click here).

The construction of a gas processing plant at the Kashagan oilfield has been announced during the visit of Prime Minister Askar Mamin to the Atyrau region (click here).

According to official statistics, as of 14 June, 402,239 people have been infected with Covid-19 in Kazakhstan. 377,642 people recovered and 4,171 died.
