Hello Friends of COINAtlantic! As we welcome the return of the light, a new energy is beginning to move through the oceans - many creatures are embarking on long migrations to the streams and coastal areas of Atlantic Canada, and the spring blooms of phytoplankton are growing in the North Atlantic. There are developments afoot in COINAtlantic, too. For over 25 years COINAtlantic has been working with our partners to advance integrated coastal and ocean management; in recent years we’ve started to see widespread recognition of the role of data management in this important, collaborative work - very exciting! Universities, governments, businesses, Indigenous organizations and NGOs are all taking action to increase access to, and re-use of, their coastal and ocean data and knowledge. As always, COINAtlantic is here to help you join and contribute to this movement. Most recently, we’ve partnered with Clean Foundation and will be creating a Best Practices Guide for NGOs to support data management within your organizations. Read on for more information about this new project, along with updates on our collaborations with CIOOS Atlantic and more. If you haven’t already, please be sure to join our new email list to continue receiving the COINAtlantic quarterly newsletter. The link to sign up can be found at the bottom of this newsletter. Thank you for your continued interest in and support for our work! Christina Macdonald Executive Director COINAtlantic |
