Congregational Update
April 10, 2020

Dear Second Presbyterian Church Community,

We hope this update finds you healthy and in good spirits, as we approach Easter Sunday.  As we've mentioned, it is now more important than ever that we stay connected, so we continue to ensure you receive regular updates on the happenings at Second Presbyterian Church.

Combined Worship Service

We hope you’ve worshiped with us during our combined online worship services on Sundays with First Presbyterian Church and Countryside Trinity Church.  Be sure to join us online this Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 10:30 AM.  As we continue to bring three of the Presbyterian congregations of Saginaw together during this time.

Worship

The session has decided to extended our current, online-only worship with First Presbyterian Church and Countryside Trinity Church through April 30, 2020.

Non-Worship Activities

All non-worship activities of the church have been cancelled or postponed.  At this time the  group meetings, Youth Group, bazaar, or committee meetings are postponed.  The spring Fish Fry is now included in these cancellations.

Interim Pastor Search

The Interim Search Committee is continuing to negotiate with a candidate and hope to have an Interim Pastor in place in the not-too-distant future.  A start date has not yet been established.  The committee is excited for our congregation as we head into the next phase of our pastoral transition.

Tithes and Gifts

We have received communications from folks with their concerns about continuing to support the church with their tithes and offerings.  Even during our temporary closure, this can be accomplished by mailing a check directly to the church or even setting up online bill pay.  Thank you for your continued support.

At this time, quarterly giving statements will not be delivered, as they are usually distributed following worship.  Paper statements will be distributed in July.  If you are in need of a giving statement please do not hesitate to contact the church office.

Easter Lilies

Easter lilies have been ordered and may be picked up at the church during the week following Easter.  Sonia will contact those who ordered and explain the pick-up process.

Mission News

Our April Mission Focus will be the collection of non-perishable items for the Food Pantry at First Presbyterian Church.  We'll be collecting money and/or food as soon as we are able.  The food pantry will need Everything as soon as their doors open again.

The mission for March was the Baby Pantry.  We will still accept items for this mission after the church is open.  We have many clothes items, but could use diapers, (newborn, sizes 1 & 2), wipes, bathing products, etc.

If you know of someone in our church community who does not have internet access please share the latest in this mailing with them.  Just because our regular worship has been put on hold doesn’t mean we stop worshipping our Lord by serving one another.  We are in this together.  We look forward to worshipping with you, from a distance, on Sunday.
