Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc, 2dc, 2dc, hdc, sc, fasten off. (8st) Attach stem and leaf to back top center of apple by sewing or glueing.

Assembly: Attach the leaf and the stem to the apple either by sewing or by using hot glue. Next, use the hot glue to attach your close pin to the back of your apple and then attach the magnet to the back of the clothes pin. If you want to make the apple stiff you can either use a stiffening spray from a craft store or you can use something sturdy that you can cut to the shape of the apple and glue to the back of the apple before attaching the clothes pin. If you want to glue something to the back you might try using a kids plastic place mat from the dollar tree, just trace the apple onto the mat, cut out and glue!

This apple would be cute clipped onto the side of a basket from the dollar tree that is stocked up with things teachers need like hand lotion, hand sanitizer, tissues, and chocolate of course! What a great little Christmas gift basket!

Crochet Tip of the Month

"Crisp, Bold and Vibrant Looking Appliques"

If you are trying to get your appliques to look as crisp and bold as what is pictured on the patterns here's a few tips!

1) Crochet Tighter! To get that crisp sharp look I recommend crocheting a little tighter than you normally do.

2) Go down a hook Size! If you have tried crocheting tighter and your applique still looks a little "loose" then you might need to go down a hook size to get a similar look.

3) Loops & Threads Impeccable Yarn! To get a bold rich color applique the color and quality of your yarn is everything! Orchid and Bee's uses Loops and Threads Impeccable yarn from Michael's to achieve a rich and bold look. It comes in dozens of colors as you

can see in the photo above and can even be ordered online! If you can't get your hands on Loops & Threads then it is recommended to use as bold and rich colors as possible to get a similar vibrant look that is eye catching!

4) Placement, placement, placement! Take your time and place your pieces carefully before you sew them or glue them. Study the picture on the pattern and take notes for the positions of each piece. Lastly, I personally hot glue mine to get a cleaner crisper look and I take my time when placing my pieces. Most often I have to readjust the pieces multiple times until I get the look I want. I take a picture to get a better idea of how it will look to others and then I keep making adjustments until I get just the right look.
