Art is for Everyone

NEW "Petite Amie (Sweetie)" by Kimberly Olson

The excitement is building on this gorgeous, sunny day with people out on the patio's and kids playing on the rocks outside the gallery. Summer is just around the corner.

This week kept me very busy with the organisation of our sold out fundraiser last Thursday. I teamed up with the fabulous Erin from Huckleberry Books to make it a Blind Date With a Book which proved to be a successful and super fun evening. Big thanks are due to the Huckleberry crew; Kimberley's newest band 'Howard Street Blend'; poets Heather Wattie, Lori Craig, and Eniko; along with the bar crew Suzanne and Lorna. Gratitude also goes to the generous donations from Over Time Beer Works, Mountain Grass Glass Gallery & Bistro, Save On Foods, Sam Millard, Rob Toller, Michele Doucette, Keith Powell, Al Price, Dawn Bryant, and The Shed. I'm happy to announce that we raised $1,740 for the Kimberley Kaleidoscope Arts Festival!

Today we're celebrating Mother's Day with West Kootenay-based artist Sab Curtis and her two daughters at the closing reception of Sab's solo exhibit. Please join us for afternoon tea and a special artist talk between 3 and 5 pm. Sab’s unique perspective and artistic talent highlight the resilience and adaptability that is within us all. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the beauty and strength in Sab’s “Rewired” collection.

Next weekend promises to be bustling. I'm looking forward to the opening reception of Cranbrook-based photographer Neal Panton's solo exhibit "Tides" on Friday night between 7 and 9 pm. Please join us for Neal's artist talk. We'll have some special non-alcoholic cocktails to enjoy while exploring the fleeting moments of change captured by Neal along the Pacific North Coast, including Haida Gwaii, the North Coast Trail on Vancouver Island, and the Oregon Coast.

Calgary-based watercolour artist Sandy Blass will be paying us a visit on the long weekend. Catch her live painting sessions in the gallery on Saturday, and Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. Sandy will also bring some beautiful, new watercolour paintings and is excited to meet you all. Don't let this opportunity slip by; see Sandy's creativity and skills in action.

Happy Mother's Day!
