More Cucumbers & Tomatoes

Than I've Ever Seen in my Life

The other day we had a discussion that went like this:

"I don't really feel like we're doing too much these days. It seems like kind of a lull since we've been getting a rhythm down with the garden..."

"Yeah I thought that too... but yesterday I was talking to a friend and telling him about everything we've been doing, harvesting the veggies, canning and processing all the produce, remodeling the rental property, taking down all the fencing, planting more seeds for the fall garden, prepping the chicken coop, church services, family visiting for birthdays, and health stuff... And then I thought to myself, 'Yeah, I think we've got enough plates spinning at the same time.'"

I'll spare you the details and instead show you some photos of what things look like around here right now. Pictures are worth a thousand words.

We got a new friend around here: our cute (and of course "manly") tractor.

Uncle Ephraim taking nephew Zion for a spin!

Zion caught a big fish with grandpa in our pond!

My main view these days. Lots and lots and lots of pizza sauce, tomato sauce, salsa and bruschetta in this kitchen!

A humble smattering of a few garden treasures. Ephraim does the heavy lifting on the bulk harvest.

Sweet corn! Plus watermelons, tomatoes, cilantro, basil, zinnias, and marigold flowers.

Butterflies have blessed our garden in droves. What a delight.

Gorgeous Autumn Beauty sunflowers have grown well past 10 feet tall.

Pumpkins. It's already starting to look like autumn out here!

We got the opportunity to reach our local community and sell our produce at To Your Health Bakery in Winston-Salem on multiple occasions thanks to our dear friend Anna!

These two photos are from my midsummer 30th birthday tea-party-turned-rainstorm-turned-pool-party-and-barn-dancing-extravaganza. It was a night to remember for sure considering that everyone ended up SOAKED and yet also everyone pivoted SO well. I am humbled by our beautiful community.

In the next week or two, I'll send out another email with some professional, updated photos of our farm and the harvest thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law Meghan who captured these beautiful moments.

Well that's all for now.

Check out our peach and apple wood chips if you need a birthday gift for the dad or bro in your life who like smoking/BBQing.

Feel free to check out our facebook page as well at Saint Basil Farm: North Carolina.

Additionally, you can view our farm page on my nutrition consulting website.

With love from the Rusu's at Saint Basil Farm

This is a photo taken in Winston-Salem with a sky too gorgeous & Southern brick buildings too cute not to photograph.
