What a week Round-Up Readers! Although I do have a big imagination, the first-ever meet-up of herteliers and learning about networking with Dr. Raina Brands at the Four Seasons Ten Trinity Square was even more amazing than I had dreamed! A full write-up is coming this week, but have to share that Dr. Raina Brands is incredible, she had everyone in rapt attention learning her science-backed methods for the most effective ways to network. She then broke us into small groups and conducted an interactive exercise, followed by further explanation, with time for questions. Everyone left the session not only with meaningful new connections but also the knowledge and confidence to approach any networking opportunity. If you need an empowering speaker on any topic relating to women in the workplace, Dr. Brands is who you should call! Massive thank you to Claudia Scrase, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Four Seasons Ten Trinity Square, and GM Marie-Laure Fleury, the Thames Penthouse is stunning…on the top floor of the hotel with views of the Tower of London, the iconic Tower Bridge, and The Shard. The service and food were incredible. The energy and enthusiasm of this group motivates me to work on more events for the hertelier community. When you bring smart women together amazing things happen, so please reach out if you would like to attend an event or create something in your area! Now, let's get to the news... |

Listen UP: Podcasts to download! "Wiser than Me" with Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Stop what you are doing and download this podcast RIGHT NOW. I am OBSESSED. First of all, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is hilarious, which she puts to good use in this podcast where she interviews accomplished women older than her, about their lives. I have been binging it this week––guests range from Jane Fonda and Diane Von Furstenberg to Ruth Reichl and Amy Tan. No topic is off limits-–marriage, sex, illness, business, parenting, discrimination––she also calls her Mom at the end of most episodes to chat. It's educational and entertaining, my favorite podcast of the moment!
Finally, women that contribute to hertelier win industry awards, coincidence!?!? BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Gilda Perez-Alvarado on being recognized with the IREFAC award at the NYU Hospitality Investment Conference and Judith Cartwright on her company Black Coral Consulting winning “Best Luxury Hotel Consultancy in the UAE" by MEA Markets this week. Read what Gilda and Judith shared with us from IHIF. If you want to become a hertelier contributor, email me. If you love reading the Round-Up, please forward this email to a friend or colleague! They can see all the past issues and sign up by clicking here. Thank you for reading! Have a great week! Em |
