INVESTIGATION RECAP APRIL 28, 2023 - VENTFORT HALL We had a phenomenal investigation to kick off our 2023 season! The spirits at Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Musuem put on one heck of a show for our guests! The biggest surprise of the night occurred in the dining room. The room was supercharged with energy, and I could sense something huge was about to happen. Typically, the lights in the room turn off one bulb at a time (when the spirits want to cooperate). On that particular night, I had felt a surprising surge of energy in the room move from one side of the room to the other, causing the chandelier in the center of the room to significantly brighten momentarily before the wave hit the end of the room where the fireplace and wall sconces are. To my surprise, and to our guests' delight, all of the lights on the sconces turned off at the same time! The spirits stepped up their game that night! I had an amazing reaction from Bruce in Mr. Morgan's room. I had told the guests that we typically hear from Bruce several times per investigation at Ventfort Hall. Shortly after I said that, Bruce once again introduced himself. I was thrilled to hear from him shortly after I had mentioned him, I uncharacteristically responded "Bruce! Buddy!". To that, he responded in a deadpan manner, "Don't call me that." The guests all chuckled at the response. I've said it before and I'll say it again, spirits can be funny! We had many possible intelligent responses throughout the night on the Phasmabox, I will need to go through the data to confirm what was said and to gauge how likely each response is a valid reply. Several of our guests were touched by spirits during the event and there was plenty of chatter in the hallways on the first floor that could be heard with our own ears (disembodied voices). We will be reviewing all of the data and will release all evidence once completed. We would like to thank all of our guests who explored the haunted mansion with us on that night. We cannot do what we truly love without each of you - and for that we can't say "thank you" enough! |

WALKING AMONGST THE SHADOWS TALES FROM OUR VAULT Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia was the scene of many surprising paranormal experiences when we visited several years ago. Five of us were locked inside the massive fortress for a truly unforgettable experience. It was at this location where I had my most painful encounter with a spirit that was detailed in a previous issue - a spirit called me a "son of a b**ch" and I had felt the burn of what felt like a cigarette being extinguished on my neck - all because I brought recording equipment into a cell where prisoners had chiseled an escape route. I had left recording equipment throughout the massive structure and recorded a number of surprising sounds. I had recorded the sound of a wall being chiseled in the wing where the famous prison breakout occurred. But, more surprising, I had recorded the sound of a residual corrections officer, walking up and down one of the cellblocks. On the recording, there was the faint sound of the jingling of a set of keys down the far end of the cellblock, and the sound kept getting louder and appeared to be moving closer to the digital recorder. There were no sounds of footsteps, however, just the rhythmic sound of keys as if they were dangling from one's belt. The tempo of the keys was similar to the gait of a slow walk. Then the sound of the keys began growing faint again as if someone continued their path from near the recorder to the other end of the cellblock. We could rule out a living person as we were all accounted for at the time and as I mentioned, there were no sounds of footsteps, which would have been impossible for someone to accomplish as the floor had bits and pieces from the ceiling and - sadly - very large cockroaches on the floor that would have crunched with footsteps (there was no way to avoid them in the darkened cellblocks unfortunately). We heard and recorded so many residual sounds of the prison, from cell doors closing, to the chiseling of walls, to voices, and yes... of a correctional officer still making their rounds in one of the historic cellblocks. Sadly, Eastern State no longer permits paranormal investigations in order to focus on the "historical aspects" of the structure. It was my argument that the spirits and ghosts that reside amongst its walls are living history. I'll keep working on them, and in my wildest dreams there would be "A Spirited Evening at Eastern State Penitentiary. I can dream, can't I?
