CUSTOMER SERVICE BEATS MARKETING,

ANY DAY!

Dear customers and friends in the e-commerce world. It is when you talk to another human, on the phone or in a chat that relations are built and loyalty is born. Not through automated personalised mails or a re-marketing ad. This is why we think customer service beats marketing! Read more further down.

Last week I was in Poland and every time I go there, I am impressed by the entrepreneurial energy and the similarities to walking around in Sweden or Denmark.

This is also why I think Poland is a country we should consider, when we are planning our international expansion. The average income is increasing, and the 25% with the highest income, can easily match the average income in a Nordic country. And 25% of the Polish population is equal to the population in Sweden!

By the way, if you have been wondering about the cost of launching your shop in Poland - or another country - the answer is right here!

Growth hacking in international

e-commerce

When we started working on this project a year ago, we did not really know where it would take us. One thing we were sure of though, the marketing toolbox in most companies was missing something and too many companies struggled to grow in a profitable way.

After a year of hard work we learned several things.

1. The first two weeks of preparation is critical

In the model above you can see it is about the foundation for your foreign business. It seems obvious to do these things and all good intentions are in place. The reality is that many companies lack the experience from a local e-commerce specialist and this means their foundation is incomplete. The consequence is high traffic costs and low conversion rates. Bad combo!

2. The team needs a local hero

In a traditional Growth hacking team, you need skills in IT, copywriting, design and analytical skills. In international Growth hacking, you also need a local hero. An e-commerce specialist from the target country, a person who has been living most of her/his life in the country. A local hero knows all the difficult stuff such as culture, tone of voice and of course the language, but also has a local network and understand the marketing environment in the country.

3. Synergies to the rest of your business

We also learned that both the great and the really bad ideas we came up with added something to our market understanding. When these ideas were shared and discussed with our clients, it gave them valuable ideas and inspiration, to be used in other markets.

Hire a growth hacking team!

We are now ready to offer the Growth hacking service to new and existing clients. It is a process of minimum 4 months, where our team will develop and test ideas to increase growth and profitability. We focus on testing at low cost, all learnings are shared and we keep you in the loop as we go.

Customer service beats marketing, any day!

We talk about marketing automation every day and on how to find ways to communicate to our customers in a personalised way. But it is not personal. It is IT and in most situations, we know this as consumers. We accept the benefits of personalized well-timed communication, but it does not win our hearts.

The only situation, where a customer connects with a human in a webshop, is when they write, chat or e-mail to customer service. This is where we can win their heart.

We invest a lot of energy in doing that and our teams are eager to give a seamless and enjoyable experience to everyone reaching out. We look very much forward to a new feature, where customers can rate  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the chats, emails, and calls we answer.

It is just as important to monitor the quality of the customer experience as it is to monitor how effective our teams are. We look forward to include this KPI in our monthly reporting and to show you how our skilled employees has beaten marketing again!
