Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Hebrews 10:23-25

From Pastor's Desk

Well, it's begun. We've celebrated the Transfiguration of our Lord, and so we now descend the mountain back into the real world. Not only does this real world bring with us pain, suffering, frustrations, debt, taxes, and strife, but the Church also descends the mountain to the desert of temptation and sin.

We're now counting down the days to Easter, which means that we're just about to Lent.

The next three Sundays, we will hear our Lord teach about salvation, the role of grace, the importance of Scripture, and the gift of faith.

There's no need to start acting like it's Lent just yet, but it's time to lift up our eyes and fix them on the cross in Jerusalem, as we ponder how our lives of prayer (Matthew 6:5), fasting (Matthew 6:16), and almsgiving (Matthew 6:2) will change as we are cast into the wilderness with Jesus.

As always, please call or text with any questions or concerns, or if you just want to meet up for a cup of coffee. My weekly schedule is usually taped to the front door, so if you stop by and miss me, you'll know where to find me.

Your servant in Christ,

Pastor Benson

PS - we'll watch the Super Bowl at Church on the 12th. Bring your favorite drinks and snacks and enjoy our comfy new chairs. Mrs. Benson will probably be playing video games on the other side of the parish hall if you're not a big football fan but want to hang out anyway.
