Ministry Update November 2022 |
Broken Clay Ministries is a 501c3 non-profit, missionary-evangelism ministry, established in 2013. Together with its donors, BCM is providing practical ways to solve the problem of poverty by giving a hand-up and the gift of hope to children, families, and communities. We appreciate your consideration as you plan for end-of-the-year tax-deductible donations. |

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude to the Lord for sustaining BCM since our inception in 2013. We count it a joy to serve Him in Africa and wherever He may lead. Often we wish we could transport each of you to walk through the Namuwongo slum of Kampala with us to see raw humanity and the conditions thousands of precious people find themselves in. You'll find a short video clip of the slum on our website brokenclayministries.org We'd like to take you with us to Kyangwali Refugee Settlement where you'd meet those displaced by war, famine, and hardships beyond their control. Pastor David of Set Free Ministries, our partner in Uganda, has established a church in the camp that is meeting the spiritual needs of many. This church is led by Pastor Joseph, a man dedicated to reaching those who desire to have a personal relationship with the Lord. It is there, in the midst of up-turned lives, that refugees are being renewed, transformed, saved, and filled with the Holy Spirit. We at Broken Clay Ministries are grateful to each of our faithful donors who have joined us in making a difference in the lives of those living in poverty-stricken Uganda. Through our humanitarian outreaches, we are having a great impact. Perhaps you've recently discovered BCM. We know that there are many opportunities to give and we appreciate your consideration of joining us to be part of a team that is truly making a difference. |

The Blessing of Running Water |
Here in the U.S. we don't give much thought to our need for water, just go to the sink and turn on the faucet or if you were like me as a child simply pick a perfectly ripe tomato from the garden, rinse it off with a water hose and you have an instant snack while playing outside. Simple. But not so for those living in poverty. Through donations BCM has received, we have been able to provide running water and flushing toilets for New Planet Primary School. This is the first time since the 2009 inception of the school that the tedious daily activity of providing water has ceased. This entailed many trips to purchase water from a tap and haul it to the school, most days requiring 16 trips. Now, all it takes is turning on the faucet! You cannot imagine the excitement of the children. In fact, most of them had to be taught how a flushing toilet works. Before the recent improvements, the school used a pit latrine to service 475 students plus teachers. With this improvement, we have also provided a healthier more sanitary environment. We are currently installing a water reserve tank to provide for any disruption in water delivery to accommodate the school's needs. In addition, we've contracted a painter who is repairing, plastering and painting the toilet rooms. |

Broken Clay Ministries expanded its humanitarian outreach in June 2022 by opening the Born to Win Skilling Center and Broken Clay Church Saving and Credit Cooperative (SACCO). We believe that by giving a hand-up to those living in gross poverty we are providing hope and a future for children, families, and communities while ensuring the dignity of individuals who train to use their God-given talents to support themselves and their families. Learn more about these new projects on our website brokenclayministries.org |

Born to Win Skilling Center Students are learning marketable skills that will give them a hand-up in developing their God-given abilities to provide for themselves and their families. We are very proud of these initial students who have begun to master their areas of interest and for producing products to sell as they are in the learning process. Our congratulations to Pastor David Turyatemba, who is the director of the skilling center, for creating an excellent curriculum. |
