Welcome to this week's update on Colombo's meal deals, food delivery and events. Apologies that the newsletter is a bit late this week. Another week at home, so again we're focused on delivery deals and online events. Hopefully we'll be able to bring some in-person events back next week, which can be enjoyed safely, but it all depends on on how things are. Again, we've got a wide variety of online events listed in the weekly diary, from mental health and learning to business promotion, from cookery to travel. Do please let us know what events you enjoy, or even if you don't like any at all. We relish any and all feedback and want to give you ideas that you would most enjoy. Keep Safe and Stay Well . If you like this, please sign up below and forward it to your friends to subscribe. |

Breakfast and Lunch Baker's Blend have launched a selection of breakfast sandwiches or waffles. The sandwiches start from Rs100 for a boiled egg or omelette sandwich, or Rs120 for a scrambled egg and cheese sandwich and the waffles are priced at Rs350 for sweet or savoury. These are all available from 07.30am to 10.30am daily. It's not actually a "new" breakfast, but Coco Veranda have several breakfast options for delivery, from a "big breakfast" or an English breakfast, to a vegetarian option or a lighter breakfast of Eggs Benedict. Classic Lounge have a nice Burger-Kulfi Combo offering 2 burgers, 1 fries, a drink and a kulfi for Rs1,099. Alternatively for Rs1,599 you can get an extra burger and kulfi - but you'll still have to share the fries and drink! Meanwhile a new burger joint has opened, Mr Cooper's. They offer a range of gourmet burgers, named after Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory: the Shell Coop, the MeeMaw, the Bazinga and so on. They currently have an offer of two regular burgers for Rs600 and there is also a chocolate and marshmallow burger for dessert - we're guessing that one is for Penny! If you prefer something more traditional, Lost and Found have buy one, get one free offers at the moment on a selection of kottu and on devilled pork or chicken. this offer is available until 20th September.

High Tea and Dinner: Instead of a classic high tea, how would you like a selection of Indian savoury snacks? Guru Dosai are offering just that: ulundu wadai from Rs90 each, cheesy samosas from Rs100, ghee paper masala from Rs270 and cheese and onion dosai from Rs400 each. If you prefer sweeter snacks then how about a crepe filled with ice cream, fruit and more? Sweet Vibes offer a number of varieties including strawberry, cashew, regular and more. They also offer a savoury shawarma option. Grand Slam by Mitsi's have some "family deal" combo offers of pizza, garlic bread, cake and more. There are three deals on offer, one including a chicken kottu and another including a barbecue platter. If you've been missing the food from the Galle Face Hotel, then you'll doubtless be glad to hear that they have launched "Delicious", their own delivery site with food from the main kitchen, from King of the Mambo and from the newer Firebeach as well as cakes from the bakery. Another restaurant that now offers delivery is Ramen Misoya. They have a wide choice of ramen bowls, as well as some other dishes, which can now be ordered for lunch or dinner.

Live Music and DJs While music venues remain closed, it has been fantastic to see a growing number of livestreams this week; there are even some regular events emerging, thanks to to the likes of Soundscope's "Live at Home" and now Rockland are supporting a weekly "Live Sessions" stream. And there are sessions for DJs too, thanks to IslandPulse who have started hosting some of Colombo's leading DJs for sessions on weekend evenings. Rockland's "Live Session" is on Friday at 7pm and this week's stream will feature a live performance by Minesh D. An hour later at 8pm, the band OiC will be will be doing their own stream, with live performance and chat. Then on Saturday evening we can enjoy the Soundscope "Live at Home" session which this week features a livestream performance by Melissa Pereira, starting at 7pm. IslandPulse's sessions this weekend will feature DJ Darius on Friday, from 10pm, and the following day DJ James will be on, also at 10pm. Keep an eye on the gig diary, we'll add music events as soon as we hear of them.

Other Events We've found quite a few online events this week, covering a lot of different interests. Starting with some events intended to help people who are struggling, on Friday at 3pm there is a webinar about substance abuse - the signs, symptoms and attitudes. Later at 7.30pm, there is a discussion of Managing Stress, a Proactive Approach, covering breaking the cycle, handling it and focusing on being more proactive and positive. Do you enjoy meeting people? Want to get more out of it? Then you might enjoy the session on "Connectworking - Interesting Introductions", moving on from the same old questions like "Where are you from?" to questions that start conversations and build a rapport. This is on Friday at 5.30pm. For anyone interested in the environment, on Sunday there is a discussion called "Creating an Entirely new Environment", which should be thought provoking. Missing comedy? Need a good laugh? Finally there is some home grown online comedy as Blok and Dino host a "Better Late than Never" Lockdown Instalive session on Saturday at 7.00pm. Speaking of comedy, if you enjoy making comedy TikTok sketches, or want to, then tune in to a TikTok Comedy Creators' Networking Event on Sunday at 10.30pm. Events are being added to our diary almost daily so keep checking back and see what's new.
