Important Message for DLC Secretaries
New Zealanders should be able to expect consistency and excellence in decisions made by District Licensing Committees.
The Health Promotion Agency/Te Hiringa Hauora (HPA) has alcohol-specific functions around giving advice and making recommendations on the sale, supply and consumption of alcohol, its misuse and resultant harms.
A recent programme of work has been developed by HPA and is now being implemented. The aim is to support district licencing committees, territorial authorities and regulatory agencies around their roles administering the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
Critical to this project is the creation of a national support network for District Licensing Committee members. The network will enable the distribution of best practice guidelines and other relevant resource material and training to support District Licensing Committees.
