Speak Up for Unconditional Mask Choice

Call To Action: Please attend the school committee meeting remotely tonight on zoom at 7pm. Prepare brief statements (for comment during the Mid-Year Report period and at the end of the meeting, during Public Comment) about why unconditional mask choice is important to you.

Speak your truth but don't feel pressured to reveal private medical status to advocate for your child. If you're not sure how to start, consider these points...

  • Mask Choice means optional, if someone wants their kids to continue to wear a mask they still can. Everyone is supported. The key is it's a parent's choice and not a mandate.
  • Conditions attached, with complex metrics and decision trees, are unnecessary and burdensome, not only on parents and teachers, but most of all on children. Other districts are making a clean break. Barrington can too.
  • Vaccines are widely available for those who want them, but they should not be mandated or used as a divisive tool, people can make that choice for themselves.
  • Masks are doing irreparable harm to our children, as legally determined in RI State Superior Court in Southwell v. McKee. It's time to recognize this cruelty and end it now.
